On the stages of Cheatham Street Warehouse, Luckenbach, Albert, Billy’s Icehouse, Tavern in the Gruene, The Rowdy Float Trips and The Mean eyed cat is where Forest has been cutting his musical teeth. He moved to San Marcos in January of 2007 and has been playing his tunes and making friends ever since. Forest, originally from Mechanicsville, Virginia graduated from Virginia Tech with a Fisheries Science degree. Instead of finding a career in Environmental Science, he decided to chase the music dream. After coming to Texas where he knew just one person, he has found a home at Cheatham Street Warehouse while recording a record with the legendary Kent Finlay and Cheatham Street Records. "On the Outskirts of Nowhere" was his third self-released record in 5 years. While in the Hill Country for the last 3 years, Forest has opened for Billy Joe Shaver, Stoney Larue, Micky and the Motorcars, Two Tons of Steel, Doug Moreland, Ryan James, Drew Kennedy, Owen Temple, Rodney Hayden, Josh Grider, Texas Renegade and Zach Walther and the Cronkites. He has also played alongside Kent Finlay, Ryan Turner, Mike Ethan Messick, Tres Womack, Bill Rice and Jimmy Kaiser. Forest co-produced Nathan Hawkins’ EP entitled “Waltz Away” and is currently producing Court Nance’s first studio record.

If you're lookin' for an artist to get on board with from the "ground floor," I don't think you can do better than Forest Wayne Allen. Forest is one of the Hill Country's fine young songwriters and performers who is currently paying his dues by working the popular venues along the "Americana Expressway" between Austin and San Antonio, and who has recently released a CD project entitled "On the Outskirts of Nowhere" that's WELL worth a listen. Of especial interest are the original songs "7 Day Bender" (the kind of song that makes you want to grab a bar stool and bust it over someone's head!), "Plastic Flowers" (filthy blues licks!), and "Smoke In My Eyes" (a classic "crooner" to put on and take your girlfriend for a drive). Really, "Outskirts" is a winner up and down. Put it on and you'll find yourself singing along. A VERY nice effort produced by FWA himself and recorded at the legendary Cheatham Street Recording Studio in San Marcos. In addition to songwriting and performing, Forest is involved in producing and promoting other artists... and is an all-around good guy. See him now at a San Marcos or New Braunfels venue while you still can... you'll be standing in line to see him soon enough.
