Three years and two semesters into the civil engineering program at Texas A&M, Jed was finally sure he didn’t want to be staring soullessly into the mammoth hell-bible known as the AISC Steel Construction Manual for his first job out of school. After a summer in La Mancha Spain, he drove back to Texas from his hometown of Newton, MA looking to quit the night job slinging pizzas and hop on stage with a band playing keys and writing music. Luckily, the day he got there he met the Chad Hammock Band at a battle of the bands who were looking for exactly that. He spent all of senior year living off gas station hot dogs, Mudfest BBQ and sleeping in towns that couldn’t be culturally further from Boston, MA. After graduation he moved to Austin, TX with the band and picked up a few odd jobs. One being a bouncer at a piano bar. The entertainment director, knowing he was a piano player, asked him if he knew how to sing and he decided to give it a shot. Soon after discovering this new talent, Jed got to work on writing songs for himself. He locked himself in his room practicing for over a year until cabin fever started setting in. Along with the originals and armed with about 500 cover songs he got a job at a piano bar in San Antonio and used the tip money to fund his solo project on the side.

Jed’s music is a blend of true Americana with influences ranging from Duke Ellington to The Stones, James Booker and Leon Russell. He was brought up studying the likes of Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell and other jazz masters before becoming obsessed with the New Orleans sound. He began writing his first song at 10 and started getting serious while playing with a Red Dirt country/rock band in Texas. Along with a love of rock, soul and R&B there’s no reason to get bored of a specific style while listening to the music. He hears all of these genres while writing a song and loves the feeling of it all pouring out of him while performing on stage.
