You’ve heard the AM Band before... ...even if you’ve not been to their weekly gig at the Carousel Lounge during the last year. You’ve heard the AM Band because the members are some of the busiest gig and session musicians in town -- truly standard bearers of the Austin sound. In the recent past, AM Band members contributed to live or recorded projects of over 60 Texas acts, including Johnny Bush, Wayne Hancock, Hot Club of Cowtown, The Derailers, Dale Watson, Ted Roddy and so on... Formed in late 1997, The AM Band was conceived by leader-guitarist, Jim Stringer, as a sequal to Travis County Pickin’, the country-jazz collaboration of Austin sidemen produced by Stringer and released on HMG records. The AM Band features hot pickin’ and smooth singin’ by a variety of regular and featured performers. AM Band repertoire includes both originals and covers. It’s a little twangin’ (Wynn Stewart, Webb Pierce, Johnny Bond, Mel Tellis), a little swingin’ (Louis Jordan, Artie Shaw.) It twangs and it swings... it’s.. S-W-A-N-G!!!
