Mike Cowan was raised in Devine, Tx. and was influenced at a very early age by music. He grew up listening to hundreds of his dad’s records. Everything from Ray Price to the Beatles. Quote: “We didn’t have playstations or computers back then like kids have today. We didn’t even have cable TV till I was already a teenager. So I played a lot of records. I especially liked Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and Jim Reeves. Everywhere I went I was surrounded by music. My mom played the organ at different churches we attended. My Grandpa Cowan turned me on to Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. He showed me how to play a few chords on an old guitar, and I took it from there. My Uncle Danny Cowan is a Blues guitarist Icon in the San Antonio area”. Mike has fronted a few different bands throughout the years, such as: The One Night Stand Band, The Lone Star Music Company, Country Fever Band, and The Wooden Nickel Band. He has shared the stage with such legends as Darrell McCall, Hank Thompson, Johnny Rodriguez, Johnny Gimble, and Adolph Hoffner. He is also a published songwriter, and has written a number of songs that the Mike Cowan Band performs. His latest CD is due out July 1st of 2008. Mike wrote 9 out of the 12 songs. The CD is titled “Easy Chair”. Mike now makes his home in Luling Texas with his wife Cindy and their two children Loren and Cody.
