Paul Wilson’s debut release All Things Considered has endeared him to critics and listeners, and it’s really no surprise. The album’s strong production, arrangements, songwriting, and vocals have earned Wilson comparisons to another Wilson—Beach Boy Brian. All Things is a pop record, but with all the favorable connotations associated with “pop.” The songs “How Many Times” and “She Has a Way” feature Wilson’s amazing ability to layer harmonies. But Wilson cut his teeth on more than just the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Listen to cuts like “Caroline” and “100 Times” and you hear the country and bluegrass influences of the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Eagles. The lyrics are heartfelt depictions of loss, triumph, and insights about the human spirit. There is great attention to the things that matter in life as well as all the mundane details of life in All Things and what else could we expect—Wilson’s day job has him teaching philosophy to college students. Wilson has established himself as a strong presence in his home of San Marcos, Texas—not only as a singer-songwriter, but also as a musician whose ability to pick up any instrument with proficiency consistently amazes his peers. In addition to playing guitar and singing on the album, Wilson is featured on bass, keyboards, and even 5-string banjo. Wilson has plenty to offer to Texas music and great things will follow from this up-and-comer.

If I could choose between smashing my nuts with a hammer and listening to this cd...I would smash the shit out of them, because it would be less painful.

Caught Mr. Wilson at Humble Time--his music is a refreshing break from that Americana garbage. We'll be seeing more from him soon I hope.

Caught him in San Marcos at a rustic place (can't remember the name now) - we don't have stuff this good up north! Didn't get a chance to talk to him, but I was so blown away! He is an amazing songwriter....

Thanks for your brilliant strategy, Napoleon. And by the way, why do you have a picture of a burger on the wall? If I don't see you at your next show, I'll catch up to you at the Buddy Ebsen Appreciation Society.

This man can sing! Beautiful songs, but it still rocks. I heard he's playing at Cheatham Street in February so don't miss this guy's show.

This CD is great--The production on "How many times" sounds like Tom Scholz of Boston. Rock, folk, countryish and bluegrass type stuff, but it all makes sense together. Paul's got a killer voice and writes incredible songs.
