Although her parents may tell you otherwise, Penny Jo Pullus, the youngest of four children, was born in Northern New York, not in Canada. After performing in various venues locally, Pullus relocated to the blossoming music mecca of Austin, TX, where her sound and music slowly but steadily flourished. She also joined a group called the Trailer Trash Band. Her debut EP, Lucky #7, was well-received on Austin radio stations and alternative country/roots rock programs. Appearances at the South By Southwest Festival resulted in more buzz. After releasing her debut full-length effort, Acme Volcano, the singer was compared to the likes of Gram Parsons and Tammy Wynette. In April 2002, Pullus released My Turn to Howl, which featured a variety of Austin-based musicians, including former Small Faces keyboardist Ian Mclagan. She continues to perform mainly in the Austin area, but has branched out into other parts nationally and internationally.
