Trey Brown has been serving up his surfer-western songwriter sensibilities in Austin since late 2006. In March of 2008, Trey released his first studio album. Smoke a'Risin' combines Appalachia folk with Americana, and melts the country into the downtown city lights. With a young, solid beat and warm twang, Trey is a "promising artist to keep an eye on" (The Daily Texan) He is 21. Trey brings a fresh sound to a century of influences and emerges with sheer originality, giving the Americana/Folk genre a new dynamic. His poetry is a clever takes on folk anecdotes, seen through the lens of hip-hop and R&B, crafted with pure original structure, all delivered through an "authoritative, silken voice" (The Daily Texan). Trey performs frequently in Austin, acoustically and also with a full band. Most recently, Trey was selected to perform at the 2008 Kerrville Folk Festival.
