In the nineties, Dead End Angels' Scott Melott was in The Groobees, whose claim to fame was writing "Wide Open Spaces," a song that became a signature hit for the Dixie Chicks. Don't let that scare you off, though, because Dead End Angels' debut album, November , is a wonderful blend of country-minded roots-rock that some people call "Texas Music," but that album--which deals with themes of being a father, falling in love and the whole 'grow up and be a man' issue, "Wrecked & Beautiful" is anything but . In fact, it's a pretty great power-pop number that really reminds me of Joe Jackson. The song was cowritten with the legendary Alejandro Escovedo, who also produced November . Dead End Angels is one of Texas' best-kept secrets. Let's change that. They deserve more than obscurity. visit Mundane Sounds

AWESOME CD! Well written, arranged...haven't ejected it from the player in a week. Look forward to the Piney Woods show later in late August.
