Like a fine wine Brett Mouton keeps getting better with time. At the age of 23 this Houston based singer-songwriter has just released his first complete album “Better With Time.” Brett’s music is a unique blend of country-western, folk, and Americana that truly transcends a single genre. Songwriting has always been Brett’s true passion. His simple and honest depictions of the highs and lows life has to offer strike a chord with anyone who lends an ear. Brett was born in southern Louisiana and raised on an eclectic blend of southern rock and country. He inherited his talent and love for performing from his father who played in numerous bands in southern Louisiana. Before finding his niche in music Brett tried his hand in the offshore oilfields of the Gulf of Mexico. These experiences still have a strong presence in his songwriting today. In 2002 Brett planted his roots in Houston and has since made a substantial impact on the local music scene. Since then Brett has spent his time wherever there is music to be played or listened to, while trying to find his own sound. His new release “Better With Time” stands as proof that his work ethic and genuine love for music has paid off. The dedicated following Brett has built in the Houston area has inspired him to spread his influence to a larger audience. Brett is determined to expand his fan base and pack venues across the state. With the quality of his music and energy of his performances the possibilities are truly endless.

Great voice, nice production, intelligent songwriting. Not the most unique disc on the site, but a nice overview of a young artist finding his way through the world.

The best new singer around. Great voice, great songs, great guy, very friendly. His voice fits the songs he sings perfectly. I enjoy the hell out of his CD and saw him perform and it was great, too.

just saw these guys the other night. they are great! had seen brett at some "acoustic nights" at firehouse and loved him. adding weslaco just puts them to a level most people cant touch. advice: see them now, soon you'll be paying 40 bucks a seat in an arena!

Awesome show at the River Rd Icehouse a couple of weeks ago. Never saw em before, so I don't have any comparison, but I loved em. Great originals! Awesome covers, too! Look for em!

I agree that they just had an off-night at their last Firehouse performance. But it happens to the best of them... Brett has amazing talent and a unique voice that wraps itself around every lyric. The CD has more than a couple of songs that make me smile... Great debut CD!

Off nights will happen, but good songwriting and talent will always be the core of a good band. By listening to the CD, Brett obviously has both. I think it's safe to say the band will tighten up after they have more than 1 show under their belt.

Brett had a new band playing with him during his show Saturday night. The music was not as tight as the CD release party, but felt much more natural, flowing, and energetic. These guys have great potential to be a country powerhouse. I will be looking forward to their next visit to the Firehouse.

Im not rating any records here. I saw the band at the firehouse tonight, and I was.....disappointed. The lead player was awesome. Bret's voice was good. Pitch not where it needs to be but good enough. No problems so far. The lead and Bret did an acoustic thing while the rythym section took a break. They were good. Now, I dont know what needs to happen, maybe practice, but the bass and the drums were very average if not a little below. They were not tight at all. They have potential, but they need to practice. I will give them one more chance. Maybe they had a bad night.
