Island Texas consists of a wild combination of friends and family from the Austin/New Braunfels area who like to sail, scuba, fly and play music. Each "Crawdad" (a reference to the old band name) brings their own individual music abilities and background to the group. From acoustic guitars and mandolins, to Caribbean steel drums, congas, trumpets, and even Scottish bagpipes, from rock and roll electric guitars to Texas style steel guitars, it is not hard to find variety in Island Texas. Folks bring their friends and entire families out to have fun with Captain Burko and the group! Captain Burko and the Island Texas play their own fun variety of what they call "Texas Country Surfin' Caribbean Reggae Rock & Roll Island Music" that appeals to a wide range of audiences. Original music, old stuff, new stuff, fast and slow, Island Texas plays it! Lots of Buffett too......... This dynamic and diverse band is great for private events, weddings, Texas country dance halls, Buffett style island parties and everything in between. Island Texas must be the only band to include Scottish bagpipes and Caribbean steel drums. What a combo! Fans love the bagpipe tunes. Everyone has a great time at an Island Texas show.

Just listened to all the short clips on the site. I think you guys have a great sound. You are definitely on the right track. That’s coming from a huge Buffett aficionado. This is my kind of music, “feel good stuff.” The girl in the band has the best vocals by far. Just one complaint, and it’s a rather big one. I am going to have to wait on buying your cd until you come up with more original tracks. If you guys don’t have someone with the knack for writing “multiple” songs, you need to get someone quick. Otherwise you’re going to take a lot of abuse from critics. As for me, I wanted an entire cd of fresh new Island songs. I think with this cd your going not necessarily going to pull support from the people who will keep you playing in the future. Maybe your just having fun?????

Island Texas is a musical buffet of instruments and soothing sounds. "Sailing Away" inspires its listeners while "Jamaica Farewell" makes you feel as though you're on a hammock on the beach. Listeners can't help but smile with "In These Shoes," and "More Than One" makes a girl wish the singer was singing about her. But by far, listeners are in for a treat with the variety and skill of the instrumentation and musical arrangements on this cd. From the bagpipes (who knew they could work so well with a steel drum?) to the trumpet to the multiple drums and guitars, this record is truly a reflection of quality music of true craftsmen. Keep 'em coming, Island Texas!

"Island Texas" recently played for the Cushman State Meet in Sequin, Texas. From the first haunting sounds of "Tropical Bagpipes", I was hooked. This band provides an upbeat sound to some old favorites. The band members interact with the crowd and provide an evening of humor and entertainment. "Mustang Sally" gave 3 members of the audience an opportunity to sing and play along! What a refreshing evening performance! I highly recommend their CD.

This is an amazing debut album...there are fresh arrangements of old favorites like "Jamacia Farewell" with opening notes as rich as the island landscape...But the best songs are their own original works which have a truly original sound...it's impossible to pick a favorite from the sing-along lyrics of "Last Night" and "Close the Door" and "More than One"...even the surprising conclusion "Tropical Bagpipes" echos their musical themes and demonstrates the quality and originality of Island Texas...we look forward to future appearances and future CD's.
