When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for “Best New Male Vocalist,” thousands of people in the audience had to be smiling to themselves about that whole “new” thing. They knew the thirty-something, steel-eyed veteran accepting that trophy on that stage in Vegas had been rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997, that he’d been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music for more than a decade, and that as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’d been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon and the boys.

But the award did mean that Ingram, after trials and setbacks that would have buckled other artists, had at last matched the commercial success he’d always wanted with the integrity on which he’d always insisted. So he told the crowd with no small measure of pride and triumph that night that “big dreams and high hopes” can come true.

Now, as if to validate and amplify that truth, Ingram remains in the forefront of country music with the album Big Dreams & High Hopes, the seventh studio disc of his career and his third for Nashville maverick indie label Big Machine Records. Its eleven tracks range through the many facets of Ingram’s unique take on country music and songwriting. There’s the textured and contemplative “Seeing Stars” sung in ethereal tandem with Patty Griffin. You’ll find a couple of superb roots rocking country songs Jack wrote with compadre and mentor Radney Foster. And you’ve probably already heard the swimming hole party anthem “Barefoot and Crazy” which quickly became a radio smash and a soundtrack for the hot summer of 2009.

Kyle, beg to differ on Jack becoming Nashville trash. His stuff still rocks. I would like to get the new cd before I here all the songs on CMT or the radio. Anyone know when the new cd will be released. Thanks in advance. Everyone keep on keeping on

Nice photo shoot with Bucky Covington. You two look really cute playing on the beach together. When's the next Hinder cover song due out?

Jack, keep up the great work! Please take into account the last couple of critical reviews of “selling out” in the Lonestar Music blog but remember keep responding with great tunes & material as you keep doing. “James 1:19” states basically be quick to listen and even slower to respond. I would be slow and one day respond to the critics when you give an acceptance speech at a songwriter's hall of fame in the future. I would suggest to use words like “piss on you” in the future to address your critics for now.

Man. What a drag, the only bright spot on this CD is "Love You". For my Ex. Don't you know our slogan that Nashville SUCKS? Guess not, you sold out, now you sound like Keith Urban. Just another hunk of cannon fodder for big buck A-Holes in Nashville. Sorry, they don't have 1/2 star.

Jack is a sell out biatch...I mean seriously, want a little more frosting with your gay hair jack? . . . not that there is anything wrong with that. It is funny, that the music that gave you a shot, isn't good enough for you anymore. I hope we never see you playing any more concerts in Texas. Have fun with sugarland, and big and rich...we don't need ya.

If it weren't for the overly-styled scruffy beard on his face in all the pictures I see of Jack, I would have sworn it was Jennifer Aniston. ...Problem is, now I can't tell who's prettier. Though, that would explain his fanbase of Frat-Boys and Soccer Moms.

I used to love Jack! But he is a sell out. I just wish he had been content playin Texas music not Nashville pop!!!!! I hope our other Texas country favs don't go down the same road. The day Kevin Fowler signs with a Nashville label is the day I lose all hope for Texas Country!!!!!!!! I love TEXAS and TEXAS Country!! I am stuck in hell right now (aka Florida) and hope to get home soon. The only thing that is keeping from loosing my mind right now is listening to the Ranch on-line! If Jack would stand up to those suits and wright his own stuff I might start listening to him again.
