When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for “Best New Male Vocalist,” thousands of people in the audience had to be smiling to themselves about that whole “new” thing. They knew the thirty-something, steel-eyed veteran accepting that trophy on that stage in Vegas had been rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997, that he’d been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music for more than a decade, and that as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’d been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon and the boys.

But the award did mean that Ingram, after trials and setbacks that would have buckled other artists, had at last matched the commercial success he’d always wanted with the integrity on which he’d always insisted. So he told the crowd with no small measure of pride and triumph that night that “big dreams and high hopes” can come true.

Now, as if to validate and amplify that truth, Ingram remains in the forefront of country music with the album Big Dreams & High Hopes, the seventh studio disc of his career and his third for Nashville maverick indie label Big Machine Records. Its eleven tracks range through the many facets of Ingram’s unique take on country music and songwriting. There’s the textured and contemplative “Seeing Stars” sung in ethereal tandem with Patty Griffin. You’ll find a couple of superb roots rocking country songs Jack wrote with compadre and mentor Radney Foster. And you’ve probably already heard the swimming hole party anthem “Barefoot and Crazy” which quickly became a radio smash and a soundtrack for the hot summer of 2009.

Jack puts on an AWESOME live show and absolutely gives his music 110%. His lyrics have personal meaning and those strong feelings are conveyed from the moment he starts singing. He is always friendly and gracious to all of his fans and he seems to be a very sincere, genuine person. I will always enjoy his music and support the band throughout their career.

Was great at The Firehouse Saloon on March 30th! As always he put his heart and soul into the songs and I went home very satisfied that it was money well spent. I love his sense of tradition in keeping Texas Country in Texas Country Bars.

Being from Texas I have always enjoyed "Lonestar" music. Now I live in Arkansas, but occasionally I can still get a taste of great "Texas" music. Very often I get the chance to enjoy great music in Little Rock at Juanita's. On one of my trips to Juanita's to see Jack Ingram the opening band blew me away. Greg Gardner & Voodoo Cowboy stole the show. These guys were extremely upbeat and their original songs were unlike anything I have ever heard. After their time was up that night I made it a point to meet Greg and the band and found them very freindly and down to earth. I left wondering why I had never heard of them before that night. A band with this kind of style and music doesn't go unheard of. I highly recommend seeing this band. You will not be dissappointed! Greg Gardner & Voodoo Cowboy are deffinately one of my top 5 favorite groups!

Allrighty country music fans, here I go again. This is my 3rd Jack Ingram and the Beat up Ford Band review and every time I listen to his LIVE AT ADAIRS ALBUM I feel the need to tell someone. I have some deep seated dream that country radio will suddenly wake up from their BIG DOLLAR INDUCED comma and not only gain an appreciation for some real country /hillbilly music but maybe even put some on the air.My main reason for posting this review is a song called THESE DAYS written by lead guitar player Cris Clairity the vocals as always are excellant as Ingram sings "Things seem to change when you least expect, before you know it your back out on deck, its been along a long time baby since you've had a hit, well there's a homerun pitch and its comin your way, its got your name it" (an obvious baseball reference. Clairity's Guitar is clean and superb on this cut however the progressive hard thumping work of bass player Mitch Marine steals the show on this song.Ingrams's own Attitude and driving,Harland Howard's I'll catch you when you fall and Mary go round also make you want to throw on your boots and head out to your local/favorite Honkytonk-SFC ROBERT WHITE ([email protected])

Absolutely my favorite artist. I respect him for not just staying in Texas but branching out all over the US. I wish him all the luck and I know he's going to be around to stay. I've only seen him twice and was hooked. I listen to his records all the time. Thanks for this great site!

I was asked by a co-worker what I wanted for Christmas ... I thought about it for a minute and said "Jack Ingram - Hey You" She came through with the goods but had to search and search to find it (a tragedy) To make a long story short and sweet, I could not get that disk out of my player for 3 days ... WOW - and he is from right up the road in The Woodlands, Texas. I have to agree with the US Army SFC - Sarge you are right on when you say they do country music the way it should be ... I think it's a shame that artists like Jack Ingram and the BEAT UP FORD BAND get ignored by the "country music" radio heads ... About a week ago I was in a rather nice pub throwin' a few brews and realized the DJ was just playin' some horrible music ... so I went to the booth and asked if he would play a couple of songs from a disk (Hey You) I had in my car. He didn't have any idea who Jack Ingram was. He said the following words "whose playin' it around town" ... I said "KPFT 90.1" and he said "who" .. I knew right then and there that I had to give this fella' a music lesson. He agreed to "listen" to the songs (Mustang Burn & Work This Out) and he kinda shrugged his shoulders and said "it's kinda' country - don't ya' think" ... I laughed under my breath cause' I knew he wouldn't know country from a ketchup bottle ... anyway, while he was getting ready to play the songs I went to a table with 5 women ... that's right, I said 5 women. I introduced myself, took a seat, and told them they were in for a real treat. I told them a little bit about Jack and the band , they listened, and I'll bet ya' a dollar to a stale bagel that they went out and bought the disk (if they could find it) I say rock on boys ... I love this kind of music - been lookin' for it so long ... I'm home and it feels good ... I also got him to play a song by an artist I met in Nashville "Paul Jefferson" ... but hey, that's another story for another day. I know this has been a rambling review - I'm not a pro ... but I love music, especially "country music" and I know what I like ... I love this stuff and plan on getting the whole darn library of Jack's work and turning all my friends on as well ... In closing, I gotta' tell ya' I'm pretty darn excited cause I bought 2 tickets for Jack's show this Saturday night at the historic Crighton Theatre in Conroe, TX. Yes, Jack is back in town and I'll be there singin along with a big ol' smile all over my face. Oh, I am planning a trip to Nashville in April to see them again at Vanderbilt Stadium ... I guess you can say I'm a believer ...

Jack Ingram released"LIVIN OR DYIN" his "debut album" in 1997 however serious fans of the (BEAT UP FORD BAND)know that Jack recorded a live album called "LIVE AT ADAIRS" in 1995 on the Rising Tide lable. His latest album "HEY YOU" allows Hillbilly music fans of this generation to choose from any JACK INGRAM and THE BEAT UP FORD BAND'S Albums and actually hear what country music is supposed to sound like.If you are tired of all the - latest hat acts or who has the prettiest belly button contests then this band is for you. Jack Ingram can write a great Honkytonk song as well as cover and breath fresh air into an old standard such as Joe Maphis's "DIM LIGHTS THICK SMOKE AND LOUD LOUD MUSIC.The music radio stations are passing of as "todays country music" is simply insulting and Jack Ingram and his band prove it,its as if they are relying on the old perception that guys like me are to stupid to know the difference between country and pop, thereby gaining the pop audience and keeping the "country audience"(larger audience, more money,no real country music)The sad but realistic result is that guys like JACK INGRAM,BRUCE AND CHARLIE ROBINSON,KELLY WILLIS,will continue to labor in obscurity, lets not let that happen. Go buy/order a Jack Ingram album and lets take our music back and let JACK INGRAM AND THE BEAT UP FORD BAND LEAD THE WAY.(SFC ROBERT WHITE(609)562-4995
