. . . an evocative blend of soul, blues, rock and pop
It seems to have been written in the proverbial stars that Johnny Cooper would dedicate his life to performing and entertaining crowds. Since birth, Cooper has been immersed in music of all kinds, and encouraged to pursue his dream. He started performing music in February 2004 at the age of 15 and turning 24 in September 2012, he will have chalked up almost 9 years of professional touring.
Johnny Cooper has accomplished more than many musicians twice his age. Having recorded two critically-acclaimed, full-length studio albums (and another in the works) and not one, but two live albums under his belt – the total album sales of which have eclipsed 50,000 – Johnny Cooper’s career trajectory cannot be stopped. He recently had two songs included on the soundtrack for the independent movie, “Deep in the Heart,” which also includes tracks from Charlie Daniels, Larry Gatlin, Wade Bowen, and others.
Gifted with a rich emotive voice that illuminates his lyrics, Cooper says that each album “is another chapter of my life, every song is a short snippet of all the things I have encountered over the years, good times... bad times... and everything in between. I believe the music has evolved because I have evolved... the older you get, the less and less you are scared to try new things, branch out and test your limits.”
“My goal is to make you forget about everything else and just cut loose for a couple of hours.” … Johnny Cooper

I'm sick of reading "It's not country"."It's pop".One reviewer even said it sounded like Michael Bolton. Why does everyone want to put artists in one certain type of genre. And when I hear the word pop I think of NSYNC or Britney Spears, not Johnny Cooper.

I just listened to Johnny Cooper's new album, after I read all of this fuss about how its not tx country, and I have to say that no, its not the typical sound you hear in the tx country music scene, but its not a bad album, the songs have meaning and a good sound. I think that if it is something that he wants to do, to experiment in his musical capabilities, then he should be able to do that. Personally I am not the biggest fan of JC, but I do have a couple of his songs.. I saw him at LJT and he sounded just as good live as on his records, he's actually an artist. So he should get to express himself through his music however he wants. Red Dirt in my opinion is his best song. I think the album is fine, its kinda edgy and there are good songs on it. 4 stars.

Dirty Red is Right On
I'm friends with both Johnny Cooper and Don Chance and they're both good guys but I don't think they know each other. I've known Don since the 1980s and I think he wrote what he honestly thinks about Follow without any personal insult intended, and I think Johnny is honestly following his creative vision without being stifled by what others think. Don is right when he said Follow is not country music, and Johnny had to know Follow is not country or even red dirt but he did what he felt was right for him. They are both doing what they are supposed to do and people need to tone down the hysteria. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you like Follow buy it. If you don't like Follow don't buy it. Lets move on.

Music Man, the reason Cindy responds to your posts is because she is Johnny's Mom.

I agre with that Chance guy. I listened to Follow in my friends car and it isn't very good. And hwen I took Cindys advice and looked Don Chance up on the internet i found that he named Ignition as one of the best country cds of 2007. Cindy didn't have any problems with his credebility then. I stopped going out to see JC last year when i relized that family wants 100% butt kissing 100% of the time and its good to know theres someone in town who doesnt kiss there butts.

hey music man... i have stayed on the sidelines... watching you trash JC on this site and on trnonline.com. now i am going to repeat... for the third time the question you never answered from whatif37.. your quote "I manage a band dude, lol" So now i will ask the question again here, what band do you manage? Isn't it convenient that you can go on 2 different sites without your real name and bash JC? Yes, JC has a big support team! Your obsession and delight with this one reviewers comments, well is entertaining, to say the least. So let us know, if you are Music Man Enough, what band do you manage? And thanks for all the negativity posts, it sure is getting the fan base excited! And as I can tell, helping sales (however soundscan comes out tomorrow, so we will know then)! Thank you Thank you Thank you! Now please answer the question, Mr. Music Man, that can't stand JC's new cd, what band do you manage? bawahahahahahha... too funny ... really

I agree with Music Man...this CD is awful. I used to be a fan of JC, but this new sound is complete audio anthrax. Sounds a lot like Michael Bolton. JC...get your poop together!
