At the core of Taylor’s talent is songwriting. In 1988 he was a finalist in the famous Kerrville New Folk competition. With the exception of two songs Taylor has written or co-written all the material on his recordings. A slew of other artists have cut his tunes as well, including Jerry Jeff Walker, and the Lost Gonzo Band, Gary P. Nunn (15 cuts on 3 CDs), Michael Hearne & South by Southwest, Joe Pat Hennen, Mike Graham, Doc Wesson, Tommy Alverson, Brian Burns, and several others. His style is upbeat, down-home and magnetic. His ability to engage spirited audience participation in sing-a-longs, limbo contests and untamed conga lines one moment and in their seats spellbound the next is what makes Taylor stand out among entertainers. For every two or three of his good time, country, rocking tunes, Taylor delivers a poignant ballad about life and the passion and resilience required to get through it. A new role Taylor has taken on it that of Record Producer. In the last 5 years he has produced 3 compilation CDs, Live From Meridian, 2 albums for up and coming young artist, Mike Graham and Brand New Day for longtime songwriter friend, Joe Pat Hennen and most recently Abby Abernathy’s Short Stories. Another thick layer to LJT is that of Music Promoter and Festival Producer. Taylor has hosted a Texas Music Festival in April for 15 years in a row with crowds over 15,000 in attendance for this four-day event. Taylor’s 11th Annual festival was featured as one of the top 5 music events in the state in the December 1998 Performing Songwriter magazine. In 1998 he initiated an annual “Island Time Festival” in Port Aransas, TX with the same musical format. Individual artists as well on radio stations seek Taylor’s help when promoting their own events. As long as it’s for the promotion of singer/songwriters, Taylor enthusiastically shares his expertise. Add to the list his establishment of his own record company, “Boat Folk Records” and publishing company, “Texribbean Publishing” and it’s apparent that Taylor’s musical interests and talents are numerous as well as diverse. Whether it’s through a song, in a recording session or right in the middle of a major festival, what Larry Joe Taylor does best is relate to all kinds of people in all kinds of places. He has performed in a wide range of venues, including the world famous Billy Bob’s Texas, the elegant Scott Theater in Fort Worth, historic Gruene Hall and a number of outdoor festivals, yacht clubs, country clubs and regular roadhouse honky tonks. Taylor performs with his band and acoustically with other songwriters. Most notable songwriting circles include shows with Guy Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Rusty Wier, Terri Hendrix, Pat Green, Chris Wall, Bob Livingston, Keith Sykes, and Brian Burns. He has opened for Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keene, Guy Clark, Radney Foster and Lari White. Although, Texas has been good to him and his roots will always be in the Lone Star state, recently Taylor has begun to tour outside of Texas traveling across the US and possibly a European tour in the works.

I love Larry Joe! This is a great album. It takes me back to the Third Coast. It even reminds me that I should never go out in the Gulf on a fishing boat, because I do get "Seasick!"

I have spent more time than you could imagine at beachside condominiums in Port A. Gotta let you know Real Texan, be aware that “lovin’” on those floors could be dangerous or should I say down right nasty. Go get checked because you got something for sure and it’s not just a “loving feeling.” As for Larry Joe, for the people that enjoy spending time “Coasting”, i.e. - catching red fish and trout in the bays, driving the beach, checking out the jetties, looking at the girls in bikinis, eating good seafood, so on and so forth, the music is great. Get your loving feeling from the tunes, not the condo floor! He plays a fun show at Shorty’s and the Back Porch. He’s a very unique artist and the music will drive you to drink. But that’s what it’s all about, just stay off the floor like that other one. The sheets are typically clean. By the way, go “First Row, Third Coast.” It’s by far the best of his cd’s. Next thing you know Real Texan will tell you to make love to the liberal babble of the Dixie Chicks.

I like the beach. I like the breezy nights, a drink in my hand, a guitar and a sing-a-long. Plus, lovin' on the floor of a beach side condo. So you see, James, you either get it or you don't. I love Larry Joe Taylor music and also Jimmy Buffett music. And it's all attached to years and years of good times. We are all different James. You see, you probably love Wayne Newton, but I don't! So you see, it's just a matter of taste. Come on James! Wayne Newton? Get outta here man!

Larry Joe thinks of a song every time a coconut falls out of a tree and hits him on the head. The only thing worse than Jimmy Buffet is a bunch of little Jimmy Buffets. This music is lame and has the edge of a butter knife. I'm not even going to spell check this. . .

First if there were 10 stars Larry Joe would get them. I had the pleasure of working Larry Joe while at Tarleton for 5 years at his festivals. Not only is he a very talented artist but a GREAT person. I can not imphasize enough that if someone has not made one of his festivals they need to go. It is 3 days the best Texas country you may ever hear. Thanks for the times Larry Joe, Zack, Davin, Rusty and JJ

Larry Joe Taylor is one of those special talents that hold your attention and you let the whole CD play. I love the songs like Third Coast, Screen Door, Drive In, Second Wind. Screen Door is a masterpiece that takes me back to my childhood days. I have seen Larry in two different shows and he puts on a great show. Keep it up Larry.

Good CD. I can't say that every song on here is great, but I do manage to listen to most of 'em when I put it in the CD Player.

I have had the pleasure of Larry Joe's down to "Texas" life experiences rendered into a music melody that touches everyone in some form or another. I seen him in Whichita Falls and there was only eight people there and all were thrilled with his enlightenment. I have also been to Meridian and rubbed different body parts on some of the friendliest folks you could ever want to meet and yes some rubbed back. I have seen him in places where it was a personal party. I have drank beer with him and a few shots and in all of theses different places he has a different persona he gives to the crowd in accordance to what would be acceptable. His Texas music stays the same it's the story twist you really have to listen for. As with all people that try to do the right thing he will have his critics and he will have a following that can apreciate what it is that he does best. All in all he is a true Texan and for the most of us either you like or you don't there isn't much grey area to give ya'll. His music and lyrics reflect Texas and I for one will always hear that screan door slam. By the way who is this Buffett person ya'll are talking about he must be good to compare him to Larry Joe
