seen Lucky last night and was blown away buy his true ability to overwhelm the crowd with his unbelieveable voice and stage presense. His band is very talented and a great peice of honest 1950's sound. He greeted everyone who was willing, signed autographs, took pics, shook hands and said hello to all. This is a true musical artist and can not wait for the next show. Thanks Lucky Tubb and the Modern Day Toubadours for real country music.
Lucky Tubb has captured music from a era before gimics. This album is strong from the onset until the last note. At that point, I found myself playing it over and singing along. Clear and strong musicians back lyrics revolving around sin and possible redemption. Of particular not is Sweet Mental Revenge. Its haunting notes with stay with you long after the song ends
the album is awesome, damn the luck is my new favorite song!
Vinny wants to thank all those who have been posting writeups about Lucky Tubb. Because of them, VTS decided to check out his music online. Now, that's what VTS is talking about. Real country music in the Hank III, Justin Townes Earle mold. Good stuff. VTS will definitely be on the lookout for a Lucky Tubb show in the near future.
Saw LT in Philly opening up for III. I was half tempted to chill in the bar next store and continue my New Castle Brown Ale diet. But the acid kicked in and it was time to go in. LT blew my doors off. A very strong performance by all members of the band. A true altering experience. I bout the album right out of his hands and have played it til I know all the words. Front to back, one of the top ten records of 2009.
the best country music around.
This whole album is FRICKIN AWESOME! And that is not an understatement. I saw T'NT in Brooklyn, didn't know who he was 'cause I am kinda new to Country music (I mean new in a major way] and I was impressed) I t was like I was looking at farm boys and gals from days I can remember, but their expertise was seriously expert, not washboards and pans, but, yes, washboards and pans if you know what I am saying. But it didn't connect in brain how much I would appreciate this music and HAVE to buy the album until 3 came on and sang Damn the Luck with Tubb. Being new , I thought it was a 3 song and looked and looked for it until someone on 3's forum said it was Tubb, Real long story short: I loved the frickin song, can't wait to get the album in the mail, and am not going to consistently see Tubb and 3 as long as they tour, together or separately. Thanks T'NT! Best to you!
Just got done watching Lucky tear poop up in Ft. Lauderdale! Awesome show.
Damn the luck is an AWESOME album.
Saw Lucky at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh on July 3. Absolute rockin' honky tonkin' - throw back to real country music. Thoroughly enjoyed the show.
