For a better sampling of Texas music listen to 92.1. This CD is second rate at best. I can think of at least 8 better songs for each artist than the ones put on this CD. Granted, a couple of the tunes deserve merit. But for the Texas music lover, this CD kills you.

This collection is a must for those of you that care anything at all about the history of Texas music. All you have to do is put this cd in to realize just how important the Big D Jamboree was not only to Texas music but to the gals of Texas music. The musical content as well as the lyrical content on many of these cuts were cutting edge for their time. One listen to Helen Hall's "Honkey Tonk Husband" and you will understand. Charline Arthur's cover of Helen Hall's "Hello Baby" will have you hooked. Buy it and Listen!

What a tribute CD is supposed be about. 15 great artists paying their respects to this state's greatest singer / songwriter. Of course Towne's never wrote the "happiest" songs in the world. But the artists did it true to Townes, no sugar coated bullshit here. God Bless Townes Van Zandt.
