Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros, the legendary Texas songwriter and his new group of exceptionally talented musicians, will release their debut album, DIAMONDS IN THE SUN. The CD was produced by Lloyd Maines, with Americana gems like “Trains I Missed,” which is already creating a buzz, “The Shape I’m In” and “Stand Up Seven.” The album includes six tracks by Wilkins, two by band members, and three covers by the likes of The Band, Davis Raines, Ray Stephenson & Bob Dipiero. Live performances are already drawing comparisons to The Eagles, but the band also reflects influences such as Poco, The Lost Gonzo Band, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Joining Wilkins on acoustic guitar are Bill Small on bass, percussion and acoustic guitar; John M. Greenberg and Marcus Eldridge on electric guitars; and Ramon Rodriguez on drums and percussion. All five are singers, four are songwriters and each has made his own records. Maines also contributed turns on steel guitar, baritone guitar, acoustic high-string guitar and mandolin. Wilkins, a gifted songwriter, has earned comparisons to Guy Clark and Kris Kristofferson. His credits include “Songs About Texas,” the single that launched Pat Green’s career, Ricky Skaggs’ “Seven Hillsides” from the GRAMMY Award-winning SOLDIER OF THE CROSS and Ty Herndon’s “Big Hopes,” which was the title track for that record. Most recently, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Pam Tillis recorded on her new CD his “Someone, Somewhere Tonight” from MUSTANG ISLAND.

A friend of mine and I went to see Walt at Poor David's a couple of weeks back and WOW! Walt always puts on a fantastic show. You can't take your eyes or ears off of him for even a moment when he is performing. He is truly poetic. We picked up his new CD, "Mustang Island" and it is PHENOMENAL! Do yourself a favorite and buy this~!

Patti and I recently had the good fortune to see and hear Walt again down at Cheatam Street Warehouse in San Marcos. Walt had Jamie Richards (my golfing partner) playing an acoustic set with him. Walt also had his friend Randy Wayne Sitzler and a few others as special guests. What a fantastic evening! Listening to Walt's wonderful songwriting and incredible guitar playing is always a treat. We had met him at Gruene Hall a couple of years ago and had seen him at a Texas Music Awards show earlier this year. We certainly have his CD's and HIGHLY recommend purchasing them if you appreciate his talent as much as we do. He is also one of the nicest and most courteous guys in the industry. Walt, update your schedule for us so we can see and hear you again soon!!!!

I think Walt Willie is one of the coolest singer/songwriters out there. He deserves more recognition and needs to steal back some of those songs he wrote for pat. lol.

Walt's CD Rivertown will make you smile, tear-up, think, and in the end just plain feel good. I love this album at the end of the day because just listening gives me a grounded feeling of being spiritually reconnected. Walt's music has a spritual dimension that most artists are missing. He has a gift & I'm glad he shares it.

The absolute best Texas Country songwriter alive today. There are not many artists of his caliber around. If I could only own one CD, it would be Rivertown. It is outstanding! Take my advice and buy it right this minute. You won't regret it.

Wow Wow Wow, Walt's new CD "Rivertown" is truely amazing, I can't get it out of my CD changer. First I'll start with saying I had the good fortune of meeting this truely gifted singer songerwriter in Raleigh, NC a couple months back while he was touring with Pat Green. First he is just a truely nice and down to earth gentleman who took time out to talk to me about mmusic, writing, and life. Second and the main point here is the CD is great I truely say if you like texas singer songwriters go buy this CD now. The CD brings so many stiles of music to the table. Walt writes amazing songs and enlists the co-writing of Hal Ketchum and Kevin Welch on this CD. Some of the songs I like best are "Genevieve", "One Of Those Moments", "Poetry" and "Velvet Sky" is my favorite. Well get out a buy this CD I think you'll find alot of enjoyment with this CD. Walt just has such a great way of expressing life in his songs. Let me know what you think about it [email protected]

We started out listening to Walt with Pat Green. We knew he was great, but it's taken some time to figure out that Walt has a whole lot of talent and ingenuity on his own. This is a great album, by a great musician. We want more Walt Wilkins!

I think that this is one of the hottest albums of 2001. I STRONGLY recommend it. I especially like "A Little Farther West." Another outstanding effort.

This is a great album, definitely Texas singer songwriter- moved to Nashville and has that influence too. You'll be pleased with the result. Folk /rock/country. Thoses who hear it in my home always are pleased and wonder how I found this artist in the first place. Rising star in my opinion..
