Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros, the legendary Texas songwriter and his new group of exceptionally talented musicians, will release their debut album, DIAMONDS IN THE SUN. The CD was produced by Lloyd Maines, with Americana gems like “Trains I Missed,” which is already creating a buzz, “The Shape I’m In” and “Stand Up Seven.” The album includes six tracks by Wilkins, two by band members, and three covers by the likes of The Band, Davis Raines, Ray Stephenson & Bob Dipiero. Live performances are already drawing comparisons to The Eagles, but the band also reflects influences such as Poco, The Lost Gonzo Band, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Joining Wilkins on acoustic guitar are Bill Small on bass, percussion and acoustic guitar; John M. Greenberg and Marcus Eldridge on electric guitars; and Ramon Rodriguez on drums and percussion. All five are singers, four are songwriters and each has made his own records. Maines also contributed turns on steel guitar, baritone guitar, acoustic high-string guitar and mandolin. Wilkins, a gifted songwriter, has earned comparisons to Guy Clark and Kris Kristofferson. His credits include “Songs About Texas,” the single that launched Pat Green’s career, Ricky Skaggs’ “Seven Hillsides” from the GRAMMY Award-winning SOLDIER OF THE CROSS and Ty Herndon’s “Big Hopes,” which was the title track for that record. Most recently, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Pam Tillis recorded on her new CD his “Someone, Somewhere Tonight” from MUSTANG ISLAND.

Walt's new 'Diamonds In The Sun' (with the Mystiqueros) is both as Texas and as universal as you can get. Sweet harmonies, superb writing and fine musicianship are combined on a nice balance of straight-up smokn guitar RocknRoll mixed with acoustic harmony. One for the ages; great live shows.

Walt demands more of himself than those around him. Those around him are driven to be as demanding of their own work.To aspire to achieve quality over marketing friendly top 40...? Now you have a look inside the Mystiqueros great guys to the last man.

Excellent, this is my first WW album ... I'd heard "Trains" on the radio and loved it so thought I'd give it a spin. Musically and lyrically great especially the harmonies !! Great buy !!

Steel guitars and fiddle define country music. Hopewell has enough steel guitars and fiddles to satisfy the hardest core country fan around. As a bonus, you get Wilkin's natural vocals, great harmonies, melodies that are catchy without cloying, and lyrics that capture the glow in everyday events.

Thnx so much boys from your fans in the Great White North. Hearing you perform the new stuff was even better than expected if that is possible. Your show in Nashville showed just why your music touches people the way it does. Meaningful lyrics....Performed by 5 immensely talented musicians....who genuinely enjoy their fans. I knew it would take seeing you boys to ever get me to Nashville. Christy is feeling a little better and says hello...and Thank You Walt....for everything.

Saw Walt, Johnny, Bill, Marcus and Ray in VA on September 11. They were incredible - great harmonies, awesome musicianship and wonderful entertainers. They did "Wrapped" and I just about passed out it was so good. Can't wait to see them again.

Having traveled thanks to work I have heard loads of artist performing live. Last week I had the good fortune of hearing Walt and his amazing band play. Fun, entertaining, harmony that fits together (I know it is suppose to fit but doesn't always happen in some bands), rich lyrics, heartfelt performance. I will hopefully return again and again to hear Walt and the Mystiqueros perform. I left the performance feeling grateful that this band decided to share their talents with those of us that love and appreciate true and talented musicians. A Diamond(s) in the Sun!!
