Hailing from Stillwater, Oklahoma, The Great Divide is a grass roots working band that has met the country music industry head on with its work ethic, tenacity, genuine likeability, and hard-hitting style. Over the past ten years The Great Divide has steadily progressed the hill of the unforgiving music industry, proving not only their musical talents, but also their business savvy. In 1993 the group formed their own record label, publishing company and operating company, and began recording. The band's first two albums, Goin' For Broke and Break In The Storm, were independent releases. Atlantic Records signed the group and re-released Break In The Storm as well as the band's third album, Revolutions. After TGD asked to be released from Atlantic they recorded Afterglow, which was picked up by Broken Bow Records. Once again the band asked to be released from a recording contract due to lack of effort and enthusiasm from the label office. Remain, the band's fifth album was released independently at the end of 2002. The Great Divide's original front man left the band in early 2003. By late summer the band was back on the road with new lead singer and lead guitarist, Micah Aills. He hails from Washington Court House, Ohio, where he joined his first band at the age of seventeen. From 1993 -1998 He performed with Savannah Rose, touring throughout the Midwest and Southwest. Lately he has been concentrating on song writing. Aills has also let it be known he is a team player, not interested in being a prima donna of the group. This change in the line-up has been embraced by The Great Divide family and fans as a blessing that will allow their music to be taken from a largely regional popularity to national notoriety. Together the members of TGD continue to evolve as a band, expanding beyond the "Red Dirt" sound they helped to establish and for which they are best known. The band has always been known for its high-energy stage show and its honest, original music, which anyone can relate to. The band appeals to a varied population ranging from rodeo cowboys, college kids and baby boomers. The Great Divide is a tribute to the American dream as exhibited by the band members' undying belief in their music and their refusal to meet obstacles with defeat. As diverse as their music each band member brings his own attributes to the group, but it is hard to deny that a more salt-of-the-earth group can be found. There is nothing pre-packed or generic about this bunch either on or off the stage. They are the sort of buddies you would enjoy knocking back a couple of cold beers with or someone you would call in the middle of the night to pull your pickup out of a ditch. The combination of The Great Divide's experience, musical talents and new band member promises to push the group over the edge they have been perched on the past few years.

The new CD is great! It has taken the Divide to a new level. They are the ones to watch in Red Dirt, listened to the Front Porch Show on Sunday on 99.5 The Wolf and they were great. Can't wait to see them live again!

Bands change all the time, this one has changed for the better. The new CD is great. Micah sounds much better that any of the other recordings and the band as a whole sounds more into the music. For those of you with one line reviews are you a listening to the actual music being played or the old front man? Why waste your time with a one line review and not say a thing about why you don't like the music instead of just posting? The new cd is great and great things are to come from this band.

This is a great album that picks up where the band left off. Great licks and harmonies make this a record for night driving and for just relaxing. Buy this record as soon as it hits the shelves, it won't disappoint.

This new album is sad for those of us who have followed the band since the mid 90's. Terrible.

Not too bad!!I got bored and saw they were playing not too far from my house. I'm a huge fan of there past music and a huge fan of Mike Mclure. I went to the show with my mind made up that I would not like the music. But, I have to say, I was impressed. The actually put on a pretty good show. It was weird hearing the old music without Mike, but the new guy did an ok Job. There new stuff wasn't bad either. They seemed very laid back and talked to everyone after the show. I give 4 stars. Not the old great divide but not too bad either.
