There’s no place like home for Scott Wiggins Band.

“The band grew up in Corpus Christi,” said frontman and songwriter Scott Wiggins. “We cut our dues in Corpus Christi.”

Wiggins, guitarist Ryan Fedako and drummer John Diaz attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2004 before forming the progressive country trio. The band, based in New Braunfels, also performed in various nightspots in town before releasing its first studio album in 2006.

“We call it home for the band,” Wiggins said.

The band returns to its roots Thursday for a show at Brewster Street Ice House. Zack Walther Band also will perform.

Scott Wiggins Band released its third studio album “A Thousand Words” last month. The band’s first single off the album, “Best Dress,” rests in the top 10 of the Texas Music Charts. (No. 6 as of Dec. 6).

“We’re ready to take it to another level,” Wiggins said of the CD, which he calls an album “three years in the making.”

Wiggins said fans can expect to hear “Best Dress” and other songs from “A Thousand Words,” as well as classic hits like “Lonely is Holding Me” and “Perfect Way to Fall.”

Wiggins said performing in Corpus Christi brings out the band’s wild side.

“We always seem to get a bit more wild in Corpus Christi,” Wiggins said. “The fans are energetic.”
