Mystery solved! ...It's this band and their fans who keep the cheap Hawaiian shirt makers in business, and "The Simpsons" on the air.

Subversive. Hilarious. Smarter than they have any right to be. "Employee of the Month" is probably their strongest album, both in range and tone. The content ranges from Texas Swing, through Flatt-out bluegrass, into a 60's surfer/hotrod tune. Includes two sweet but twisted bluegrass Gospel-style tunes, and one Mariachi treatment.
Need I mention that they can sing and play with the best of 'em? Well, I did. Recommended. 5 of 5. Maybe 6 of 5!
Still love the songs, but it's getting a little old to see how drunk they get. Not as much fun as the early days...
Their name alone is worthy of 4 stars.
These guys had to have been Waxed when they wrote these lyrics...Sometimes funny, but sometimes annoying...No more than a so-so album...
The Austin Lounge Lizards are the best!
I love what they do because it is a)musically brilliant,
including musical humor which is wry and delightful,
b)they have a comitted social political world view which
uncompromised, consistent and just plain funny
c)their concept/lyrics may be dry, wry, silly, intellectually
delicious and delightful, literate and just plain funny.
I think its the best musical social/political satire you can find
anywhere. Puts Mark Russell and the Capitol Steps to shame
All the cd's have wonderful stuff. My favorite is "Paint Me on Velvet."
And I know this is all true because Jesus loves me but he can't stand you.
