Remember Cooder Graw? Remember Illano Estacato, New Dress, Dirty Little Hometown Girl? Well Cooder may be gone but that sound is back with a vengence! Matt Martindale just released a CD called "Big Sign" and it's the best thing he has EVER DONE!!!! The CD features artists like Susan Gibson, Loyd Maines, and many others. This is a real breath of fresh Texas morning air on a sunny day!

Is it safe to assume that the band has broken up? Oh well, I really liked these boys but life goes on. I saw Matt Martindale along with Max Stalling in Fort Worth a while back, they put on a really good show. I'm sure Matt will have plenty of success as a solo act.

Fellas..it's been awhile since the late 1990's when late afternoon y'all, on the old-bus, rolled into Fort Worth to the White Elephant Saloon and needed a place to get ready for your debut. We're a bit miffed that y'all went back to working real jobs, however we wish you all the best. If you decide to reassemble for the reunion performance, please do so at the WES. You did it right and went out on top with that same class you brought to Fort Worth the first time. - Hasta Bananas

The fans missed you at Larry Joes this year...Matt played a hell of a show with his new band, but we miss the old Cooder Graw...

Just heard about Cooder, they gave a great concert. Saw them front row once at Gruene hall and once at Sangerhalle. Great live band. I'll miss you all snd I just hope--your in the middle of shifting gears. As for out rocking CCR everyone does nowadays.

It's amazing and awesome that there are morons like "cracker" out there. Cooder Graw never ever represented themselves as the "New Highway Men". But leave to "Cracker' to make a non-exsistant connections. In actuality, "The Highwaymen" was contrived Nashville Hype that found easy pickens with simpletons such as "Cracker." God what an imbeclie.

The break up of Cooder Graw disheartened many Texas Country fans. Graw was one of few bands who wrote their own songs and performed in front of thousands from the heart. At Larry Joe Taylor fest last year they put on a better show than CCR or Jack Ingram, which were headliners. I watched them mid-December in Stephenville and intense emotion showed in their faces. I congratulated Matt and Kelly after the show, telling them they were the best. Matt has a wife and kids at home, and he wants to spend time with them. Admire that, a family man. If you don't like Cooder Graw you do not understand music. I pray every day that the band rejoin or members create a new band so I can watch them play again. Kelly can play the guitar with a beer bottle (or can). I've seen him do it. He is a musician at his finest. So is the rest of the band, I just don't know their names. If you do not like Cooder, move to nashville and join the rest of the non writing untalented bastards that sing there. Vote Texas, vote the best, vote COODER GRAW!

Cooder Graw is a shameless watered down version of bullpoop Texas Music that claims to have inherited the estate of the likes of Waylon Jennings. Waylon they aint. And the end to this band and that whole bullpoop scene was when Matt and his friends (CCR, Great Divide) tried to play themselves off as the new "Highway Men." (God forgive them, they no not what they do.)

Cooder Graw must have progressed too fast for the Texas music scene. That is the only way to explain the unfortunate end to this act. The band was underappreciated by many who lost the idea of purposeful songwriting in purchasing music. The members constantly hungered to make a new sound heard. Cooder Graw will now have to be remembered as a band ahead of its time, and possibly the symbol of an ever-dying songwriting breed.
