Artist Review
”Privateer” is one of the coolest albums released this year. Earl Musick combines a laid-back attitude with a fresh and rocking sound, which gives the fine lyrics about Texas life a perfect back-up. ”Privateer” contains the best of singer/songwriter-tradition and country-rock´n´roll. This kind of music is unfortunately too rare in these days, at least according to what gets airplay. I´ve got four favorite tracks on this album. ”Texas Moon” – a swinging thing that reminds a bit of old Guy Clark. ”Promise Bound” – a blues-rocker with cool guitars. ”Bye – I´m gone” – a song that Steve Earle would be jealous of back in his ”Guitar Town”-days. And ”Fort Worth” – a fine acoustic tribute to Earls hometown. If you´re tired of the main stream country pop that gets to much attention (at least according to me) – then ”Privateer” is a must-have.

Album Review
I gotta say, to my way of listening, this album is full of some of the best down home tunes I've heard in a while. This guy has a real nice way of getting his stories told, and there a good variety of music on the disc. Love songs (Forever in Love), Texas swing (Texas Moon), neat rock and blues, too. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

Great Texas music is in store for all who listen to Privateer. Earl pours out his heart and soul in all his song writting. Good Texas toe tapping music. Keep up the good work. It seems to me it's "Second Nature" to have a "Done Deal" like "Privateer".

Just wanted to drop a little not about my friend earl. caught him down in College Station and on stage i heard him say, "we're just a few ole songwriters" Amen to that because I've seldom heard a more honest set of lyrics than what earl puts together. thanks for just being honest in what you do. check out earl. you won't be dissappointed.

Album Review
This is a great songwriters' album, with some really honest and sometimes gritty tunes explaining things from a Texas point-of-view. I really dig this cat's interpretation of things. This CD has quite a bit range to it, from eclectic to country blues as well as good-ol rock-n-roll, but still shines as a great example of Texas independent music. The musicianship is wonderful, and the lyrics are thoughtful and witty. I think this CD is definetly worth having for folks that are affectionatos of Texas Music. Very nice indeed.

Who are you guys kidding? Earl's music sounds like 1980's leftovers. The only thing that is decent on the cd is the music. The songs are ok, but Earls vocals are best heard over a few beers.

Very cool album, different from what I'm hearing from the Texas hat acts in so many ways. I like the fact that this album covers so many genres, and does it so well. A tip of the hat to a gem of a Texas record.
