Cool little bar with lots of atmosphere. RKDO is a friendly guy too. It's worth checking out.

Having booked Thrift Store Cowboys all around Texas and the western U.S., it is safe to say that venues like the Golden Light are few and far between. They honestly treat bands better than basically any venue I know of. Whether you're just getting started, or packing the place out, they are always great people to work with. If there were venues like the Golden Light in every town, then everyone would want to be on tour.

The best bar on Route 66! I was traveling on I-40 along with the rest of my circus, so we stopped in for a few drinks before the trapeze permormance. Nice people!

5 stars don't even come close. The Goldenlight is the epitome of a good ol Texas shithole of a bar, but has more real atmosphere than Billy Bob's and 10 other bars combined. As far as Texas Music, it's the Cosmic Center of the Universe (at least in the panhandle). Bands that have gotten their start there: Cooder Graw, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland, and many others. Bands that you'll hear about in the future: Bo Salling and the Brakes Are All Gone Band, Lonesome Goat, Charlie Shafter Band, Dirty Sancho, Simple Soul. If your ever in the "real part Texas" stop by the Goldenlight. Get there early and eat at the resturant. Get a 6th Street special its a hamburger with special sauce et al wrapped in a soft taco shell along with an order of fries. Then go next door to the Cantina and give a listen. What music was meant to be.....

One of the best places in TX to see a band.....the coldest beer and you can bring your own liquor....who wouldn't want to be there.
