This is pretty much just what you'd expect from Isbell: good crunchy, Stones-y rock and a few ballad style Southern soul tunes. There's plenty of different styles thrown in but the flat out rockers are the best with the exception of "Dress Blues," the best tribute to a soldier I've heard in a long time. "Magician" is great too.
This is a great album. Jason was the main reason DBT became any bigger than a novelty act. Hell, Cody Canada stripped the DBT sticker off his rig after Jason left. A gem.
Great to see some Bama Muscians finally getting some recognition. There are a whole lot more, but this alblum of Isbell's is great.I'm sure the Drive-by Truckers miss him.
Another Alabama artist on a Texas site. Great album as a whole, good mixes, and as always with Isbell masterfully written songs
Dee, dee, de, deedle deeeeee! Best album on the site.
