Blaine Martin opened up his bar in downtown San Angelo in 1997 and it has been home to Texas Music hosting such performers as Gary P. Nunn, Johnny Rodrigues, David Allan Coe, Billy Joe Shaver, Jack Ingram, Rusty Wier, Earl Thomas Conley, Bruce Robison and Pat Green. Johnny Bush, Blaine's first big act, stated that "It's a pleasure to play a place with as much enthusiasm." The long room with a bar in the middle is not like any other bar around. Patrons dance on steel-legged tables and the college crowd from San Angelo State have enjoyed the best music Texas country artists have had to offer. There is no such thing as a drunk at Blaine's Pub, just another satisfied customer. Blaine Martin enjoys his popularity with the musicians. "That's the best thing when people play here and then want to play again. I've never had anybody give me the finger on the way out." Blaine gives back to the community. Profits from his last three San Angelo Picnics have helped build a new building for the 4-H club. Next years picnic will help raise funds for the Adult Literacy Council
