Rodney Parker & 50 Peso Reward Artist Review |

If you've ever had the pleasure of seeing these guys live, you get the feeling that one day you'll be saying, "Yeah, I saw 'em play at this tiny little bar when they were in their 20's". With Rodney Parker there is no pretense. You get energized watching them play because you know that they're not putting on a "show", they play the music because it's what they were born to do. You won't find any cliche lyrics or rehashed melodies here. The depth of the lyrics and breadth of the music is inimitable. Each song on "The Lonesome Dirge" is as unique as the band itself.

I too got this from the man himself after sitting with him around a campfire in another place on another day. I'm not a country music fan, but I love this CD. Highly recommended.

To everyone saying they sold out on this album...listen to the lyrics and if you can tell me thats not randy spilling his heart then ill give you a million dollars. this man believes in country music. "when the circus leaves town" "a whole lot better than i ought to be" and "one woman" are what being a texas country artist is about. pouring your heart out about what you feel inside. this is THE best album they have put out (even though i love them all). you want to talk about sell out....say pat, jack, and eli young band....but don't you dare put rrb in that, these guys should be a SHINING example of what texas country is, and with their rising fame its great for the genre....LISTEN...don't think

I like this album, its a little against the grain for Red Dirt but you can't deny that Oklahoma has the potential to produce some amazing bands. I listend to them on myspace and I have to say..."I'm now a fan"

I don't know what you guys are talking about. These guys don't put out bad albums. They keep raising the bar for the entire state, hell for the entire industry. They keep giving us that same RRB sound that can't be reproduced by anyone. The only song I don't care too much for is this is goodbye, you can tell someone else wrote it.
