Big Dreams & High Hopes
Album Review
Jack Ingram>>Big Dreams & High Hopes by Ex-Jack Fan  12/29/2009
Wow. Jack has followed Pat straight to Nashville and off the path that led him there. When will these guys learn? If you go to Nashville and sell yourself and your music that the end result will be bubble gum, silk shirts and music unrecognizable from all the other garbage out there. The Nashville Execs are the same one producing the hip-hop and they DO NOT have an ear for real music. They put everything into a blender to appease the masses. Over produced and over edited. Will the real Jack please stand up.

THE worst album of the year by far. Save yourself some money and listen to Barbi Doll on another CD.

Jack has made a great CD that reflects his complex talent: from raucous bar anthems to soft and sweet ballads! I love it, and it suits any mood, but my favorite is that wonderful "Seeing Stars" with Patty Griffin. Wow!!

I donot have to buy this album to know that it is like all the other mindless bee-bop on the radio.I have heard the latest release on the radio and my 11 and 13 yr olds love it! If that is your target demographic then B-I-N-G-O you nailed it! dissapointed in missouri

Electric is one of my top 5 albums of all time in any genre. However, when Toby Keith entered the picture Jack's sound became more Backstreet Boys than Beat Up Ford! Hell, Toby Keith is more country than Ingram. I have more respect for Taylor Swift, who makes no bones about who she is and who listens to her music. Quite simply this album sucks, and Lonestar Music shouldn't sell anything past "Extra Volts."

What the hell has happened? Your last 4 CD's have been God Awful! The only decent song on the CD is Barbie Doll and you butchered the original recording of that. Get back to your Adair's music. You've made enough money to get back to your roots! You and Pat make an excellent couple for sellouts!

One would be hard pressed to find a harder working artist than Jack Ingram. Playing regular concert dates, fairs, festivals, USO work, TV cameo appearances, game shows and the recent record setting radio interviews...Jack does it all with style. For those who have called him a "sell out" I beg to differ. Jack has remained true to his Texas roots and continues to have a huge fan base. I had hoped the long awaited release date of BDHH would not leave this loyal fan disappointed. It was well worth the wait. The singles "Barefoot & Crazy" and "That's a Man" are great and the remarkable remake of the old crowd pleasin' "Barbie Doll" is better than the original version. The remaining 8 tracks are done in classic Jack style as ballads with attention grabbing lyrics, great tempos and gritty vocals. Any one of these remaining tracks could be the next single. Jack has done it again and this one just might gain him the recognition he deserves and make him a household name at last. This is a great addition to any music collection. Great work Jack. Keep on keeping on!

This CD is so good that it doesn't fit any category: it is poetry set to music, it is rollicking fun, loud anthem music and soft, confessional music bordering on folk. Jack pushes the boundaries of country music and takes his fans on a musical trip. This is the best of all of his many contributions.

If there was a rating less than zero, this CD would get it. Used to be a fan, but he has strayed SO far into the Nashville mainstream that he is just another unrecognizable, radio-friendly clone. You want to make the big money...I get that. But what about your integrity as a songwriter? Don't buy this CD if you have the latest from Rascal Fags or Kenny Chesney...it's all the same. RIP Jack.

I love this guy....and I especially love this soulful, beautiful bunch of songs. I have been listening to the previews on his website and cannot wait for the rest! "In the Corner" is especially deep and mysterious. I remember hearing him sing this live at an acoustic show, and I thought then that he has incredible courage to write a song like this, and then to perform it. Very revealing.
