Lance Allen has always done things on his own terms. "My dad says that I'm stubborn and hard headed, and my wife says that I don't think things through," acknowledges Allen. Most singers recall that they discovered their talent when they were kids at family get togethers, church choir or a school production. Growing up, Lance Allen was more concerned about playing football, in fact he still holds rushing records at his high school in Boerne, TX. The singer decided to get serious and see if the public would like what they heard. The next step was putting an ad in a local paper for musicians to form a band. Lance decided to be his own promoter first before approaching venues for his debut by renting the exhibit hall from the local fair association. He handled all the arrangements from advertising, sound equipment, tickets, concessions to security details. "It gave me a new found appreciation for all the behind the scenes people in music that make it happen," says the singer. They charged $5.00 per person, played for 3 hours and had 300 people in attendance and made $800 that night. The crowd shouted, clapped, danced and didn't' demand their money back from the new country singer. "Confidence was achieved that night and it gave me the courage to start approaching clubs for bookings," said Allen. With a successful sales career and accounting degree, he developed his best sales pitch ever to get out on stage before crowds. Today, Lance and his band have earned the respect of venues and fans around Texas for his distinctive vocals and elements of surprise in the high energy stage show. Lance Allen believes in giving the audience the unexpected. When performing, you never know what I'll do next - heck I don't either - dance on the tables, jump off the stage into the crowd or whatever it takes to captivate and hold an audience. "I get some strange looks," laughs Allen, "I like to be moving constantly when I'm singing. We want the fans, to want to see us again and also please the person who hired us." We devote a lot of time to song selection, stage equipment and special effects to give patrons a show they will remember. With a large fan base developing and many are requesting CD's to purchase, Lance decided it was time to take his show live and capture it on CD. A close friend had heard about Ronnie Pfeil, who is a well known steel player, and decided to contact him for advice. "I like to help young musicians and even though he was rough, I could see he had enormous potential. I contacted producer, Bill Green in San Antonio, to see if he was interested in taking on the project. He was impressed with Lance's haunting vocals and smart business sense." We were gifted with material, from some of the very best songwriters in the business such as: White Schafer - "All My Ex's Live In Texas, Bandy The Clown, Does Ft. Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, Over Night Success and That's The Way Loves Goes - to name a few!" Larry Boone - " How a Cowgirl Says Goodbye, I Never Knew Love, I See It Now, On A good Night" Paul Nelson - " As Any Fool Can See, Billy The Kid, If The Good Die Young, My Second Home, If You Loved Me, Ships That Don't Come In and Somebody Else's Moon - " and Lonnie Wilson. We knew with this great material, Lances great vocals and energetic stage presence we could capture the true independent spirit of a Texas born artist," said Pfeil. The first single on the self-titled CD will be "Right About Now," by awarding winning tunesmiths, Larry Boone and Paul Nelson. "It's very exciting - getting ready to release my first CD. And I know with all the support of friends, family and the fans - it will take us to the next level. "I guess I have never taken the most direct route in life, worked in the restaurant business, left Texas and came back, went back to college for a degree in accounting, sell lumber products, and now pursuing a career in Country Music. And as my best friend is always telling me - "Everything happens for a reason and in due time." exclaims the determined Texas Country Singer.
