Guitarist Perry Wing wrote all the new material and gathered up some of the best players and singers in Austin to help him launch his debut solo CD, Walkin' On Back Streets. With vocals from Malford Milligan of Storyville and Funky London, blues diva Karen Tyler, the rockin' Lisa Tingle, Mickey Priddy, Kelly Pearson and Contemporary country gal Shelley King on top of his nimble-fingered guitar licks, there is nothing here that isn't good. Check out the instrumental "Austin Bound" for a sample of Perry Wing's guitar chops. This eclectic melange of country, country rock, contemporary, ballads, soul and top 40 demonstrate Perry Wing's broad songwriting talent, but make him hard to pin down with a genre label. His vocals are good enough that he holds up even when compared with the likes of Malford Milligan. Wing's 2002 release, Austin Bound, is another all original album. Working with Wing on this CD were Tim Miller, Odie Hodges, Randy McCullough and Mark Donovan. Perry Wing has been on the Austin scene for over 15 years. His first band in Austin was Wingspan, which toured Canada for the summer of 1989. He plays electric and acoustic guitar on all the songs on Walkin' On Back Streets. His band also includes Odie Hodges on lead guitar and slide guitar, Tim Miler on guitar, Steve Lee on bass, Kenny Weir on guitar, fiddle and mandolin and Mark Donovan on drums.
