Richie Allbright is a thirty seven year old singer -songwriter who hails from the small South Texas town of Mathis. His influences are some of the greatest in Country Music such as Willie, Waylon and Merle and they can be heard in his music. Richie knew from the time he was eight years old that he was destined to be a country singer and he has been pursuing that destiny ever since. He was a mere fourteen years old when he took the stage at J.D.’s lounge in Corpus Christi and from the time he sang Merle Haggard’s’ “ Swinging Doors”, he knew being a singer wasn’t one of many choices for him, but the only choice. Since that night, Richie has performed at clubs and honky tonks throughout Texas as well as, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois. IN 1994 Richie left Texas for Music City USA and the dream of a record deal. He took with him all the addictions and demons that would pursue him relentlessly for another 8 years. While in Nashville, Richie worked for Gilleys’ and played at various other local bars. He quickly made a name for himself among his peers as “one of the best traditional singers in town”. With this kind of encouragement, Richie was convinced his big break was right around the corner but his old friend alcoholism had such a grip on him that he lost focus on his dreams. After the failure of his second marriage in 2002, he moved back to Dallas Texas to try and get sober. He was successful and went back to Nashville in 2003 to take a clear eyed crack at his goal. He put the pain of a lifetime of addiction into some heartfelt songs. By 2006 Richie had his life back on track but Country Music had evolved into something he no longer recognized. He was introduced to famed Music Producer Fred Foster, who loved Richies' voice and style and had Richie do a demo. The demo was a mix of Richies' own songs as well as some covers made famous by his influences. Although Nashville had turned more toward a non traditional sound, the demo got into the hands of some people involved in the Texas Music community. With the urging of his brother and some friends who were having some success in the Texas market, he made the drastic move back to South Texas. Here he was certain he could do the music he wanted to do and do it his way. Armed with the songs that had come from his heart and life, Richie worked with Bill Green producer of such greats as Darrell McCall and Johnny Bush, to create an album that he could be proud of. With the release of this album titled " If I'd Known Then" in early 2009, comes not the end of a story but the beginning that he has waited for his entire life. After fourteen years of struggling in Nashville, a dream is fulfilled and he can’t help but look back on where he has been. There have been marriages, divorces, losses and addictions but he has emerged on the other side to see a dream realized.
