"Shaun Young is a man who keeps himself busy. Besides his primary role as lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist for Austin rockabilly kings High Noon, he also finds time for leading a solo group on the side, as well as drumming for the Big Town Swingtet (a '30's-style swing combo), and occasional sessions with the likes Wayne Hancock for his own Jet-Tone label.
Joined by High Noon/Hancock bassist Kevin Smith, ex-Derailers drummer Lisa Pankratz, steel guitarist Chris Miller and others, Young delivered an album serving as a good example of his various interests in the country/rockabilly. Several numbers, such as 'Hey, Flat Get It', 'I'm Slippin' In' and 'What's the Deal, Jack?' are top-notch rockabilly efforts that would have fit well on any High Noon album, and the same can be said of three numbers on which Young is backed by Finnish rockabilly group, the Barnshakers. The surprise is Young's talent when tackling traditional country, such as the Hank Williams-esque 'If I Can't Be Your Lover, I Don't Want to Be Your Friend' and 'How Can I Turn Her Away?', a strong honky tonk number. Shaun Young comes across as equal parts Hank and Sun-period Elvis on the album's country numbers; an approach that works surprisingly well.
Given its status as a Finnish import, it's not likely to show up at the local Wal-Mart, but this is well worth trying to track down."
