Based in the small South Texas town of Devine, and hence the album title "78016", "South of Nowhere" began as a recording project in 2003 and has since turned into a full-fledged band. Original members Butch Cook, Layne Bales and Pat Bourcier were joined in the recording studio by several noted musicians including Ron Knuth on fiddle, Mike Kennedy (George Strait’s "Ace in the Hole Band") on drums, and Augie Meyers (Texas Tornadoes) for an album that can truly be described as "south of nowhere" with a unique sound all its own. Devine natives Sybilla Irwin, Tommy Calame and Mario Cassiano also contributed to the project along with Wade Parker, Randy Reinhard, and Ginger Leigh. Since the completion of "78016" and subsequent release in the summer of 2005, the trio of friends are fortunate to have three more outstanding musicians join the band with Barrlynn West, Adan Salinas and Holly Smith and are looking forward to their upcoming promotional tour in 2006.

This Band, South of Nowhere, really has some great music here. Found them via their web page, drove through devine and purchased their CD and I really love their music. It's different but yet familiar. Anyway if you get a chance check them out. Listen to their music story in their album 78016. If you pay attention, you can really see where they were going with this. HEY SOUTH OF NOWHERE, THANKS and let us know when your next CD is coming out. Where you playing next?
