Rock and roll isn’t supposed to be pretty. It sure as hell isn’t perfect, it’s just as crooked as the rest of us, and if you ask the band Them Vibes, they’ll tell you that’s the way it should be.

Them Vibes’ roots run deep through the veritable ground of music; influences ranging from the gritty rock of The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, the rhythmic sway of The Black Crows and Tom Petty, and the intimate harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers. The songs themselves vary from the ballistic to the intimate, but through it all runs a vein of raw, unapologetic honesty.

In January 2013, the band, consisting of Larry Florman and Alex Haddad, began writing and recording their independent debut record, Shine On, in their backyard of Nashville, TN. They sought to make an album that was unchained from the grid-perfect, quick fix plug-in standards of today’s recording. Demanding vintage tones, feel, and performance, Them Vibes went to work creating a record that felt both new and familiar. Six months later they left with an eleven song LP that achieved just that.

It didn’t take long for others to notice. Soon after their release, Nashville’s independent radio station Lightning 100 began spinning Lorelei, and spotlighted the band with the honor of Local Artist of The Week. 102.9 WXRX in Rockford, IL. quickly followed, putting the band in rotation with their song Take It As It Comes. Them Vibes have also gotten the attention of press publications such as, The Deli, and No Country for New Nashville. And this March they will be heading to SXSW. They will also appear in a new documentary film, Songwriters, a 6 Minor Films production due out this spring.

Currently residing in East Nashville, Them Vibes are doing what they do best, playing live and letting the music do the talking; performing in rock venues, from The Mercy Lounge and The Basement, to the world renowned Blue Bird Café. See the show and get gritty with Them Vibes.
