His music is a mix of Texas Americana, country, blues, rockabilly, swing, and folk. He'll keep your feet tapping and your body moving. He cut his teeth on the late Johnny Horton's brand of music, and it seems to have rubbed off on the boy. The first music Tommy Irvin probably ever heard was an old Jimmy Driftwood song sang by Johnny Horton. The song is called The Battle of New Orleans. Yeah Tommy's mother Paulette would play the thing all day every day, and young Tommy who was musically inclined must have been influenced by the Horton style. Tommy started singing, drumming, and playing piano and by age 7 he was performing with a band. Tommy went on to graduate high school, then to college but then joined the Army. After regular duty in the Army he went to the Texas Army National Guard. Before and during all this time he had been drumming singing and learning to play rock and blues. He worked steady as a drummer for various rock bands in Dallas/ Ft. Worth as early as 1987. Tommy moved to Nashville in 1989 and 1990 for a young girl from Texas, needless to say she broke his heart. But she left him with some good advice, she had told him to give up drumming and start singing because she thought he had a country voice. Actually, Tommy not only had to listen to Johnny Horton but his mother also had Cash, Paycheck, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Jim Reeves, Hank Thompson, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Little Jimmy Dickens, Buck, Jones, Haggard, Marty Robbins, Faron Young and Roger Miller which she played regularly. Tommy had been influenced by the old school no doubt although rockabilly and country music is his favorite music he was influenced by all styles from Blues, Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Metal. Tommy Loves Music! He owns part of a independent record label called Honey Creek Records/Major Label Records, Honey River Music Publishing / BMI, and a separate company called Brooke Trail Music Publishing Company / ASCAP. Tommy was born in Ft. Worth Texas June 4th 1969 and was adopted and raised by his parents Thomas and Paulette Irvin in Klondike Texas. He is a Texan with a Texas attitude and his own brand of Texas Music is becoming very popular with folks all over the globe. He wrote his first song by age 8. He has recorded more than 200 songs, written over 400 and close to 100 have been published by various companies. Tommy's first single "That's What Highways Are For" made the top 40 on the Texas Music Chart in 2003. Currently his newest single release "Heavy Load of Pain" is being played on Texas radio stations. Tommy has performed in over 30 states in the Union also he performed in France, Germany and Mexico.

I always knew you would do well. I still have the picture you gave me in '91. I pray you are doing everything you ever dreamed of. I doubt you actually ever see this but...I'm proud of ya. [email protected]

He is by far the worst singer in Country music today. His new album is not good at all. Sorry !!

Tommy's CD reminds me so much of young Johnny Cash. He's got a brooding passion about him that you don't find in most young country artists today. His music is undeniably soulful. I would love to see him play live! Tommy where have you been playin? Let me [email protected].

Heavy Load of Pain really gets the blood to pumping. I think this guy is really under appreciated as an artist and a song writer. Tattoo is another one of my favorites off the CD. Keep up the good work Tommy, hope to hear another disc from you soon.

Big Country (UPS Man)
I got a copy of TommynIrvins cd from the local barbershop in old east Dallas. Was told he gave it to them. I would pull up into parking lot in UPS truck making del. blasting David Allen Coe songs. One day they gave me the cd and I played it till it wore out. 99 on 45 may be one of my all-time favorites. Wolverton Mountain is another very good song.

i like anything Tommy {Chris} Irvin does. I've known him for a long time. I used to play guitar with him at different venues in Texas and Oklahoma. I hope he is doing well and would love to hear from him.
