GRAMMY Award-winning band Wilco are bringing their brand of Americana to a Tyneside venue next month.
The six-piece from Chicago, Illinois, whose work is critically acclaimed, if not always commercially successful, will play at the 02 Academy in Newcastle on Wednesday, September 15 – one of only five UK dates.

They were formed in 1994, by the remaining members of alt-country outfit Uncle Tupelo after singer Jay Farrar's departure.

The new group were named after CB radio-speak for "will comply", which, says singer Jeff Tweedy, is "fairly ironic for a rock band".
