Its been exactly twenty years since highly-acclaimed American blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan lost his life in an ill-fated plane crash on August 27, 1990. Despite the fact that two decades have passed since the Grammy-award winning singer/guitarist bid the world adieu, his music continues to live in the hearts of his ardent followers all across the globe. With his fans around the world remembering the singer in their own way, a community in Texas is seeking to establish a memorial to commemorate the musical genius of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

It has been reported that Jeff Castro, a resident of Oak Cliff, Texas has been attempting to build a memorial for the late singer but has not been successful in achieving it in all these years. The Oak Cliff native reportedly had put the proposal of establishing a statue and fountain in Keist Park, where the musical artist had spent time as a child, in front of the city officials but to no avail. However, Jeff Castro already instrumental in organizing an annual motorcycle ride as well as a concert to pay tribute to the musician during his October 3 birth anniversary.

In the recent past, few Dallas residents had expressed the desire to honor Stevie Ray Vaughan by naming Industrial Boulevard after him. However, the city officials did not agree with the proposal and instead chose to go with the name Riverfront. Craig Hopkins who is one of the biographers who has worked on the life and as well as the music of the noted guitarist revealed that Stevie Ray Vaughan felt proud about the fact that he was from Oak Cliff, Texas.
