Outsider Corb Lund Gains Critical Acclaim

Corb Lund might perform with a cowboy hat plunked on his head, but recently the Edmontonian has played for hipsters, hippies and country fans equally.

In the last couple of months, he's darted from an indie music festival in Guelph, to Calgary's folk fest. This weekend, he's set to play at Brock University's Sean O'Sullivan Theatre.

 So how does he wind up on the roster at such wildly varying events?

 "It's cause I'm so godd--n awesome," Lund joked over the phone recently. "I'm kidding. It's a weird blend. I think my writing does transcend a lot of things. I would never say that unsolicited, but you're asking me. Part of it has to do with a blend of my background because I have a cowboy thing in my past, plus the indie rock with the Smalls ... They all got blended into a big mix."
