Emmylou Harris to perform at Sydney Festival 2011

Try selling 15 million albums. Then win 12 Grammy Awards, record a song or two with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison or Neil Young, collaborate with the likes of Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton and you're a music legend.

American singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris has done it all during her career spanning more than three decades.

The 63-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer will attempt to perform everyone's favourites at Sydney Festival which begins with Festival First Night, a free event, on January 8 in The Domain.

``I'll be trying to do songs from the past decades,'' said Harris, who has lent her tremulous voice to hit songs To Know Him Is To Love Him, If I Could Only Win Your Love, Together Again, Two More Bottles Of Wine and a remake of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend.
