Not a day goes by that Stoney LaRue doesn’t rock my Pandora radio with hits like “Oklahoma Breakdown,” “Going Down in Flames” or even “Forever Young”. Those are just a few of my favorite songs by the Texas native.

Although these days Stoney calls Oklahoma his home state, he’s a veteran on the Red Dirt Music Road, pumping out a few albums in his 13-year career. His latest, a Live a Billy Bob’s CD/DVD combo, showcases his passion for music and a gifted set of pipes.

Born in Taft, Texas, Stoney got his start in music as a child. Later, he moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma and lived in the famed “Yellow House” with other Texas Music legends like Jason Boland and Cody Canada. He worked as a cable technician to pay the bills, and played shows at night to hone his craft.

These days Stoney tours extensively and is getting ready to release his third album, Velvet, which should drop in about three months. He also has an upcoming charity trip to Alaska called “Red Dirt in the Last Frontier.” It’s an annual trek he makes with Bleu Edmondson that benefits Autism Speaks. This year’s lineup includes Roger Creager, Wade Bowen, Jason Boland and Brandon Jenkins.

On the personal side, Stoney has been married for ten years and has four children. You can follow him on twitter @StoneyLaRue
