Everything is bigger in Texas, and the annual Polo on the Prairie fundraiser is celebrating 25 years in a big way. Grammy®-nominated recording artist Pat Green is the performer at this year's event, slated for April 30 at the Mussleman Brothers' Lazy 3 Ranch in Albany, Texas. Proceeds will benefit cancer research and patient care programs at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

"I'm thrilled to be performing at Polo on the Prairie," said Green. "Its contributions to MD Anderson the past 25 years are truly remarkable. It's a fun way to bring awareness to such a great cause."

A San Antonio native, Pat Green is an artist whose own unique style of "Texas Country" music has garnered Grammy® and Country Music Award nominations. With songs such as "I Like Texas" and "Southbound 35," it's no wonder that Green is one of the best that Texas music has to offer. His 2003 album "Wave on Wave," featuring the hit single of the same name, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Charts.

While attending college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Green discovered his love for Texas music. After catching the eye of fellow Texan Willie Nelson, Green began opening Texas shows for him, Robert Earl Keen and Jerry Jeff Walker. He's toured with such artists as Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson and Kenny Chesney. Green draws from diverse musical influences ranging from '80s to Motown, and even a little classical.

Green's passion for cancer research and awareness underlies his contributions to the efforts of Baylor Health's Cares Enough to Wear Pink Campaign, Gaver's Community Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

"I'll play whatever part I can to help in the fight against cancer," said Green. "We can all use our talents and resources to contribute in some way. Cancer is something that affects everyone."
