Todd Snider lit up Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa last night (2/9/02) with an extended set featuring a blend of classics requested on napkins and new tunes from his forthcoming album due May 11, 2002. His wit and keen observations were at center stage most of the night with songs such as "Statician's Blues", "Just In Case" and Kent Finlay's "Plastic Girl." He surprised many however with "Betty Was Black" and "Lonely Girl." As always, Snider's show was lively and left the crowd checking the tour schedule for his next trip.
This guy is "mega-talented". Look at his discography. Check the credits on MOST "progressive" country jewels, he's there!!. I only wish I was able to slip him into my play list back in Conroe,Tx.!! Not happening, Damn. Hope he visits Mid- and, SE Texas SOON .He's written so many realistic, honest tunes. What a blast! Dare I say it, a new - hipper, Jerry Jeff. BB
My boyfriend introduced me to Todd Snider after he went to a show in Birmingham. Todd's unique sound blew my mind. He is wicked awesome!
I own all 5 albums and they all are great. Daily Planet is the best album but some of the new songs on Happy To Be here show the prgression Todd has made since I first heard him 4 years ago. His live shows have changed of late (he now tours minus the rock band 'nervous recks') however the new sound is a refreshing change. The music is fun and todd is the best live act i have seen. If you have not seen the live show GO!
I was in a record store, when over the speakers came "You Think You Know Someboby". I asked for the CD and I have not been the same since that day in '95. Todd blows me away everytime I listen. His songs hit every emotion. Thanks, Todd
P.S. Keep Off the Grass!!!!
I caught Todd opening up for Ellis Paul at a free concert in a local park in NJ. WOW! I bought "Happy to Be Here" and haven't let it out of my disc player since. This guy is truly one of the best. Smart lyrics and extremely listenable music. BUY THIS CD!
His lyrics mean something, yet at the same time, he is producing top notch, fun-to-listen-to music.
Todd can do it all. Run, Pass, Block, and Punt. Where would our team be without Todd Snider! And he hasn't missed a game in 4 seasons (except for the time he took himself out in Atlanta). And Todd can be the sneaky one, like that stint in New Jersey. No one handles the pigskin like Todd. I've even upgraded him to a five star QB because of his ability to whip up a new, witty, creative play when the game is on the line!
