I'm returning this one. REK has never had a bad album, but this is a first. I listen to REK because I like his style and his sound, and he tells a good story. This album has none of the above except for the first and last cut. If you buy it , you won't know its REK. Unrecognizable.
Wow...didn't think I could be this disappointed with Robert Earl's new album. But I guess there's a first time for everything. My buddy bought this CD and we listened to it together, and the general consensus was that this is most definitely NOT one of his better albums. There were two or three tracks that I deemed "listenable," but most were, well, pretty bad. In fact, I'm skipping his concert tonight at Floore's because I'm scared to death of hearing any more of his new songs again (particularly the title track, "Farm Fresh Onions") and not being able to skip through them.
This is a great album. There's definitely something new about it, but there's still a lot of that REK sound. Or maybe it's just his voice- it isn't good, but it sounds better to me than any other singer out there.
The REK party song collection should have corpus christi bay on it, other than that it looks pretty good.
This is a most have cd for any REK fan. It puts you in a good mood and makes you wanna go out and have a few beers with some bodies. Tomball Cougar football rules!
Robert's new album is great. I love that he is doing new stuff. Texas music has gotten so stagnant with all the young guys coming out. Its nice to have a good album that you don't have to were a taco straw hat and spray beer on your buddies to listen to. He is ever growing and I appreciate that. I cant remember the name of it but the blues tune on this album has a really cool vibe. I hope REK continues to evolve and remind me why I became a fan of this kind of music so many years ago.
Pure classic, with very few misses. Hell at least he came out with a full album that wasn't made up of 2 new songs and 10 old favorites. This album just expands on the reasons why I like REK's music...Keep on rockin' & Gig'Em!
back to four stars at least
P.U.
Farm fresh fertilizer would be a better name. Robert Earl's music is going downhill with every new effort. Why would you name the CD after the worst song on the record?
If you listen to it and dont like, listen again; and again. It is a great CD. There are some songs that I do not like, but there are a couple great ones. My favorite: Beats the Devil
