Gravitational Forces
If it wasn't for 'Gravitational Forces' and a pretty bad redo of Road Goes On, this alblum would be great. 'Not a Drop of Rain', 'Hall of Fame' and 'HighPlains Jamboree' kick ass...

I think this CD is all about the music. It's great, it may not be the "party" sound (if that is the way to put it) but it's awesome. The sounds the words, the stories, everything. I think this CD is great just give it a chance. It's about the music... REK is a great song writer.

Reading ten of the previous posted reviews, I have to agree that all share the same vein. All did not like the CD at first listen and about half eventually came around. It tokk me about three spins and about 3/5 of the CD is really good, the rest can go. It is a different sound for REK, but that what keeps the great ones like Ely and Earle great. Hopefully this CD is a seperation from the annoying kids in caps at the live shows. Let 'em chase Green and Morrow and Creager and the rest of the REK wannabes and let REK get back to being REK.

I don't think many people are giving this album a chance. The album does grow on you and compliments all the old REK stuff.

I bought Gravitational Forces just because it was REK. At first I wasn't sure about it but the more I listen the better I like it. People can't expect these guys to just play the same old stuff all the time. Give it a chance - it grows on you.

Gravitational Forces
5 stars would have to be perfect. They should have left off "Snowing on Raton" and "The Road Goes on Forever". As far as it not being his "Style" it fits pretty damned well with his other work. Sorry to the beer drinkers there is more to life than "The Road Goes on Forever"! It gets better with every listen.

Gravitational Forces
The best thing I've heard in a long, long time. By anybody. It took a couple of listens. But I have been listening to it for about 6 or 7 days now, and it just gets better.

Music is art! And just because REK didn't put a hokey "Bucking Song" or "Merry Christmas from The Family, Part 3" (part 2 was enough), some fans are turning their back on one of the great Texas songwriters. "Gravitational Forces" is a great title for the CD. Because it is heavy, and it may take the music a bit to settle upon you. But when you realize what you've got, you appreciate his art. While REK copycats are putting out the same old shit, I'm glad the new CD doesn't sound exactly like his other stuff.

this album isn't awful, but its definitely sub-par. if i wanted to hear poetry, i'd buy a poetry album.
