Hayes has soul, charm, and humor. Most of us can relate to It's a Shame, and people across the country are talkin 'bout She left me for Jesus. It's a great CD.
Hayes Carll is a turd in my drink.
Hayes Carll is one of the best songwriters in the scene (which is sad there is a 'scene', gives the kids something to brag about at class on Monday). Sorry if you don't get that, maybe if he wrote songs about beer and tacos everyone would be happy.
Hayes Carll is, hands down one of the best artist's in Texas country. I have met Hayes a couple of time he is a stand up guy, his music is real, and from the heart, and to all of his critics out there, well you all can go to HELL! Keep on doing what your doing Hayes, I love it!
How about judging a person's entire being by that individual giving their word personally, and then when it came time to cancel, that same individual hiding behind their management, booking agent, and record label? "I know I gave my word, but the label said I have to do something else." Delivered via a hired hand. That, Mike, is the very definition of a sell-out. As with another Texas artist of note, it won't be too long before such compromises of integrity begin to show up in the music as well. I give it two records from now.
Wow. Could you RFTers get on here and whine a little more? Don't judge a person's entire being by a scheduling conflict. There is a whole faction of people that sit around waiting to call someone a sell-out. "What? Hayes wore sneakers? I guess he sold out. Hayes done forgot all about Texas and boots."
So I'm starting to wonder if there is a conspiracy here. I posted a positive message a few weeks ago and now its no more.
So I will say again that Hayes is a great singer/songwriter...with all do respect to the other talent that I cherish...most do and all would probably agree...that Hayes is the next best singer/songwriter that has come from this state since...whoever your'e a fan of...Yea..you have read the reviews...its true so accept it. He's bigger than all of this but still an important part of it. He could be the voice of this Texas music thing if you would just open your mind to the possibilities. Go to a show, meet the man in person, listen to the CD, and actually request it before you form an opinion over a bad business deal....this stuff happens all the time in the industry....you gotta get over it.
Just saying.....
Hayes shouldn't be considered a Texas artist. He doesn't care about his TX fans or the people who helped him get his start. His music is good, but his bad karma is stronger.
