U like RK than u will love these guys!!
These guys are figuring it out. The mix on this CD is much better than on "Ain't In It For the Money", maybe because of the involvement of brother Cody and Abeyta as producers, maybe because of the switch in studios to Cedar Creek. In any event, this CD is closer to how the Motorcars sound live. As usual, Joseph Deeb's guitar work is excellent, always tasteful but not overdone. "Rock Springs to Cheyenne", long a concert highlight, has finally been committed to the studio, and it's about time. Deeb's guitar licks fill it out beautifully. Pinto Bennett's "Carolina Morning" is a highlight here, too, with steel master Lloyd Maines going off, soaring and stinging into a tasty instrumental duel with Deeb. Willie's longtime harp player, Mickey Raphael adds a lot, especially on "Love Is Where I Left It". As for the songwriting, it's getting better. "Desperation", written by Micky, Willy and Dustin Welch, grows on me with each listen, as does "Long and Lonely Highway", penned by Micky. The Motorcars are close to that magic formula that produces an excellent album all the way through, cuts 1-12. There are a couple of misses here, but they're not far off the mark. Now if I can just convince them to record their take on "Tear Stained Eye"....
LOVE it one of the best cd of 06
pretty much a must have
Honestly I have to say that this a very well put together album. The songs flow together very well and in fact the more you listen to this CD the more you enjoy it. This is a must have for any fan of Texas Music.
I said a BIT weak, still gave it four stars. I like MMC, going to see them tomorrow night. I prefer his voice to some of the "great" singers of the Texas scene, for example, Stoney Larue. I think everyone should buy this CD. It is the number one seller today so I guess a lot of people are buying it. Good for MMC.
Careless is another masterpiece. We love you in Seattle, Mike!!! Keep writing and singing and PLEASE come to the North"wet" soon, but until you get up here, I'll be driving to Boise this summer.
This is the best album I have heard so far this year. Every single song on the CD is captivating. It is one of those CD's that you can put in the CD player, go cruising on a long road trip, and listen to the entire album over and over again. You guys keep doing what you're doing. We love it.
careless is just alright. it is the worst album out of the three. i think that the writing isnt as sharp as it has been on the other albums.im sure there will be a lot of tools on here that will bash me for having an opinion but thats all it is.
Masterpiece is all I can say!!
