This is one of the best C.D.s I have ever purchases. Listen to it at least 3 times over and I guarantee that you will be hooked.
There is absolutely no doubt that you should buy this album. Lyrically inventive encompassed with a sound that represents all that is good about American music at its roots.
The only downside to the album is when it is over.
After listening to these young men and their music I realized that each time you hear them, they get better sounding than the last as nuances of the sounds-voice and instrumental - do not disappoint. These lads will be the next " big group" - get tickets to see them now before it's too late !
I've been to the Newport Folk Festival 3 times- saw Bob Dylan in '63, Janis Joplin in '68, and the Old Crow Medicine show last Sunday- and I put 'em all in the same category- pure magnum force American music. Don't miss 'em!
OCMS play music from the jug band/string band/old timey tradition with an incredibly frenetic, sexy rock n roll energy. If you like the MC5 *and* Gillian Welch then this is the band you've been waiting for. A fabulous record for anyone with ears; buy it now and prepare to have your mind well and truly blown.
The only reason these guys get 5 stars is I can't give them 10! Listen to them! Honest music by some of the hardest working, best musicians in America today. Totally fresh and a real joy to see live!
A beautiful shock to the ears from the word go. They holler in perfect harmony on the barnburners and twang out a high lonesome sound on the slow ones. They mix Americana and edgy newgrass with a punk rock attitude. Highly recommended!
I saw OCMS at the Ryman in Nashville with Del McCoury and these guys are awesome! They've got a new twang that bluegrass has been looking for! They're energetic, crazy looking and a whole lotta fun!
