I don't know about Roger's show being better than Pat and Cory....but,this guy is destined to be just as big as them if not bigger...his shows are more fun and energetic than I have seen in a while...his show is a must see.
Pat Green,Cory Morrow they are all great...But Roger's show blows them away...hard to believe I know,Roger steals the show.....
I have always loved Texas Music aand for a long time didn't want to like artists that play our music but aren't grom Texas. When I picked up "Pearl Snaps" I changed my mind. These guys are fantastic! There is a new REK and it ain't Pat Green, it's a kid named Jason Boland from Stillwater Oklahoma!
Working in the music industry, I've seen a lot of shows, but I saw Roger perform last night (7/5)at Cowboys Red River and it was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. He was very energetic and had a great personality on stage. He didn't even let the drunk chick that pranced around in front of him all night affect his performance. If he's in your area, you've got to check him out, you won't regret it!
This band is so amazing! I'm not much of a "BAND" type person! I love Top 10's each week and that's it!!!!! Thats why, to my surprise, I found myself absolutely in love with this band. I have never had so much fun as I did when this band came to town! I bought their CD the next time they came to town and I couldn't believe how the songs were all written by them...themselves!!!! They are amazing!!!! The only problem I had with them was that they didn't play long enough!!! West 84....you are a bunch of bad asses!!!! I'm going to stop here b/c I feel cheezy bragging on 5 guys I don't even know!!!! But you truely are amazing. If I had any control over record labels...you would be the FIRST on my list!!! I love you guys! Please...NEVER stop playing!
Excellent song writting. Some of the best to come along since the likes of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Dub's authentic Texas style truly comes from the heart.
If you've ever driven the back roads of Oklahoma, chances are you know what red dirt is. It's unlike the clay found in Alabama, or the rock found around southeastern Utah....it is actually dirt that has been formed by thousands of years and thousands of mixtures. Well, the music in this area has many of those same ingredients, and shares the same name. The "Red dirt" sound is not quite country or western, not quite bluegrass or hillbilly, and not quite folk. Although it does share many of these qualities, as well as many other elements taken from pioneers that have played in Oklahoma such as Woody Guthrie and Bob Wills....this music is truly original. This CD is the epitome of this sound and speaks volumes of the spirit that has been coming from the Sooner State over the last several years. This is so much more than a gospel album, and so much more than a compilation. This CD has brought together Oklahoma legends (Bob Childers, Tom Skinner, Red Dirt Rangers) and Oklahoma newcomers (Jason Boland, Cross Canadian Ragweed) and manages to not miss a step in teh process. Mike McClure and the rest of the Divide makes one think about a simpler time. When values and morality were the most important things. This is a record about honor. It only takes one listen to this CD to remember why music was created in the first place...
an unparalled songwriter that can make the listener feel his songs.
Kyle is among the best out there. He goes beyond the normal beer drinking-honky tonk songs. His songs have much more positive messages and inspiration.
