What makes steel guitar and Dobro player Cindy Cashdollar's musical journey stand out is a combination of restless creativity and an uncanny ability to understand and add to a wild array of styles. She has worked with the likes of Leon Redbone, Graham Parker, Bob Dylan ( on his Grammy winning "Time Out Of Mind" CD), Jorma Kaukonen, Peter Rowan, and the stellar Cajun group Beausoleil. As the steel guitarist for eight years with western swing kingpins Asleep At The Wheel, she logged many more additional road miles and won five Grammys. Their critically acclaimed " A Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys" and "Ride With Bob" CD's afforded Cindy the chance to work with some of the premier country artists of our time, including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, George Strait, and The Dixie Chicks. Cashdollar (it's a real name) was born and raised in the infamous Catskill Mt. town of Woodstock, NY, and credits her musical beginnings to the large and varied influx of musicians that lived and/or performed there at the time. Starting out on guitar, she later switched to Dobro and started touring with bluegrass artist John Herald, and then in an acoustic quartet with The Band's Levon Helm and Rick Danko. Other local artists such as the legendary Paul Butterfield and Happy and Artie Traum were also part of her early musical experience and influence. Cindy was named Instrumentalist of the Year in 2003 by the Academy of Western Artists Awards, and was inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall Of Fame in 2003. She is a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor's "A Prarie Home Companion" public radio show, and has released four instructional videos for Dobro and steel on Homespun Tapes. Texas has been her home since 1992, and since her departure from Asleep At The Wheel in 2001, she continues to enjoy a variety of freelance work, both on the road and in the studio.

Great musician with unique sound. When I hear Asleep at the Wheel, I just wait for her steel to come in, and am disappointed when she's not on the recording. There's lots of folks missing something if they aren't familiar with her sound.

Cindy is easy on the eyes but hard to beat on the steel guitar. Her CD SLIDE SHOW has her struttin' on Dobro, Resonator and my favorite the Double Fender Non Pedeal Steel Guitar. Herb Remington and Redd Volkaert not to mention Johnny Nicholas makes appearances. great cd all around.
