WHY LSM?

Why LSM?

When you “buy local” and shop at LoneStarMusic.com — and at our physical store in historic downtown Gruene, Texas — you are doing more than just scoring great tunes and merchandise from your favorite Texas, Red Dirt and Americana artists. You are helping us invest directly back into the independent music scene that LSM was born out of more than a decade ago.

Whatever genre you want to call it, we love this music as much as our customers do; we live and breathe it, as fans, champions and — thanks to your support — as active participants. In addition to hosting our own live music series, in-store performances, official South by Southwest showcase (and free day parties) and the annual Lone Star Music Awards, we also partner with and help sponsor events such as the KNBT Americana Music Jam, Charlie Robison’s Bay Bash, the Austin Wine and Music Fest, the Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam and the MusicFest in Steamboat Springs, Colo., — among others. Chances are, wherever there’s great Texas, Red Dirt and Americana music to be heard in the Lone Star State and beyond, LSM will be there, too.

This scene is our livelihood, and we are committed to not only keeping it alive and thriving, but helping it grow. We are constantly discovering new music worthy of the LSM stamp of approval, and we love getting the word out to as many other fans as possible. That’s why, in addition to sponsoring events, catching every show we can, and interacting with thousands of fellow music fans daily via Facebook and Twitter, we also publish LoneStarMusic, a full-color, bi-monthly glossy magazine available via subscription and at select distribution points throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and other states throughout the South and Midwest. Inside each issue, you’ll find in-depth interviews and reviews of Americana and Texas country’s hottest young stars, like Hayes Carll, Ryan Bingham, Cody Canada and the Departed and Sunny Sweeney, as well as roots music icons like Joe Ely, Lucinda Williams, Kevin Welch, Rodney Crowell and Todd Snider. We also feature a colorful cast of regular and guest columnists, ranging from acclaimed songwriters like Terri Hendrix and Bob Livingston to the controversial Texas/Red Dirt music scene blogging sensation Rita Ballou.

It takes a lot of time, work, passion and money to keep the Lone Star Music flag flying, and we couldn’t do it without the loyal support of all of the fans, artists and other industry types who make this scene — in all of its diverse glory — so special. As “The Great Americana Music Store” — and more — we’ve been proud to be a part of the Lone Star Music scene since 1999, and look forward to continuing to serve it for many more years to come. Thank you for shopping at Lone Star Music and for helping us spread the word about the best music on the planet.
